The Voice of Reason: This Week in WWE

Daniel Bryan’s Retirement

It’s been a very emotional week with Daniel Bryan announcing his retirement due to his health. I thought this was handled perfectly by WWE, letting Bryan close out the show with just himself and a microphone. We got to see more of Bryan’s real life character and how nice a person he really is.

He had a fantastic run and at least got to main event WrestleMania to have a moment that cannot be taken away from him. Bryan’s energy and style will truly be missed and hopefully be can encourage there to take his philosophy.

It remains to be see what Bryan does from here on out. My hope and somewhat expectation is that he will take a backstage role in WWE. From training talents to compiling matches and story lines. Not so long ago I wrote a piece about Bryan becoming the new babyface Raw GM. I still stand by that, it’s a way to keep the energy and legacy of the Yes Movement going and continued his story about him against The Authority.

Lastly I say, thank you Daniel Bryan. I hope to see him inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.

Titus O’Neil’s Suspension

I’m not really sure what to make of Titus being suspended by WWE for his actions post Raw. Many fans are saying it is ridiculous that he was suspended and that Vince McMahon is evil. But as with any job, you can’t get away with physically harming your employer. Yes, we have seen Vince get speared and punched, but those are storylines.

Ultimately, I think the 60 day suspension was harsh, and it could have been handled a lot differently and a lot better. I hope this turns into Titus being pushed as he will be one of the biggest babyfaces the company has now.

Til next week.
