The Fox Files- Part-timers

Their has been a lot of talk currently in the wrestling industry about part-timers, with even WWE Superstars such as Daniel Bryan and The Miz bringing up the subject. Let’s firstly talk about my opinion on part-timers:

Superstars such as The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Goldberg and John Cena are all ‘part timers’ with The Undertaker’s body, unfortunately taking a toll on him. I truly understand why he is a part-timer because if he was wrestling on a full time schedule nowadays their is no way he would be able to keep up with it. He was in the industry basically on a full-time schedule since 1993, and he became a part-timer in the mid 2000’s. That means he was in the industry on a full-time schedule for over a decade, and he has had some of the best, and most brutal matches this industry has ever seen always main eventing both TV and LIVE event shows. Whether it was in the Attitude Era versing the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and Mankind, or entering into the WWE PG era with the likes of Triple H, Shawn Micheals and Batista, The Undertaker was at the top of the mountain for a very long time, so it is a wonder that his body has started to take a toll on him? He returns mainly once a year, for a few weeks because WrestleMania wouldn’t be the grandest stage of them all without him, and I have a feeling that this may be his last one, so we need to make this one count.

Next, let’s talk about John Cena. He debuted against Kurt Angle on June, 27 2002 and since then he has been at the top of the industry holding 15 world titles, which is a HUGE achievement. John Cena has moved on, as he now does a lot in Hollywood, and Make a Wish. Again, John Cena has had some of the most amazing matches, but also devastating matches in the WWE against the likes of Batista, Randy Orton and even his most recent rival, AJ Styles. It is understandable that John Cena wants to persue other dreams outside of the WWE, but one thing for sure is that he is not going or retiring anytime soon. And nowadays when John Cena is around, people want to tune in because he is a special attraction.

Talking about a special attraction- let’s talk about Brock Lesnar. Here is another part-timer, but the story is different. It’s not that his body is beaten, or that he wants to persue other dreams(unless you talk UFC, but we’ll go into detail about this issue another time) it’s just Brock Lesnar, is quite simply a guy that shows he where he wants, when he wants and does what he wants inside the ring. Look at Summerslam 2014 against John Cena, no one expected that! Brock has versed the likes of John Cena, Seth Rollins and even ended The Undertaker’s streak, and yet no one expected this to happen, did they? Brock Lesnar is simply the best box-office attraction on the planet, and if he was full time then we as WWE fans wouldn’t get the same buzz we do when he only shows up a few times a year.

Lastly, let’s talk about Goldberg. We never thought we would see him inside the WWE ring again, but after a LONG 12 years it finally happened and wrestled Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. It was more or less astonishing to see the desonation of Brock Lesnar inside a minute and 26 seconds. But again, he shouldn’t be on a full-time basis because he wouldn’t be able to keep up, although he looks in great shape! He is always a special attraction when he is around.

Current day superstars and superstars who used to be on a full-time schedule such as Daniel Bryan, and The Miz have talked about this subject, and they are saying about how they are only part-time and don’t put in as much as the others do in the company. Now, I find this to be false, because with the 4 examples above, all 4 of them have put so much in over the years, and they just want a easier schedule otherwise something disasterous could happen to them and none of us would like to see that.

I hope you enjoyed reading The Fox Files. Let me know of your thoughts in the comments below!
