NXT Takeover: Orlando Predictions

Hello, it’s me TWB and I’m back with my NXT Takeover predictions. Today I will give my thoughts on this Saturday’s show and my thoughts on NXT in general. I must admit my love and enjoyment of NXT has declined over the last year and compared to last year’s Takeover during WrestleMania weekend, where I was excited for every match, am not so much this year. However, this is NXT and as recent form shows, NXT produce great Takeover shows and hopefully this will be no different

Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, No Way Jose and Ruby Riot vs SAnitY

This is the match that in my opinion has had the best build. SAnitY have been tormenting Tye Dillinger for almost 6 months, as you may remember it was Eric Young’s faction who defeated Dillinger and a fleeing Bobby Roode in the Dusty Rhodes tag team classic, back in October. At Takeover: San Antonio, the Perfect Ten was outnumbered as Eric Young once again defeated him. This time Dillinger has some back up from No Way Jose, Roderick Strong and the relatively unknown Ruby Riot. However, I expect Sanity to still win, because they have so much momentum now and it wouldn’t make any sense for them to lose. I’ve said numerous times before about Dillinger, it doesn’t matter if he wins or loses, he’s still a fan favorite with the Full Sail crowd, and this is the same for No Way Jose. His theme song is enough for him to be over, as for Roderick Strong, personally needs to turn heel. I feel he’s too stale as a baby face and a loss for Ruby Riot shouldn’t damage her in the long term because there’s still more that we don’t know about her, realistically if she were to take the fall, it’s not going to hurt her reputation because now she doesn’t have a reputation to live up to.

Winners – SAnitY

Aleister Black vs Andrade “Cien” Almas

I’ll be honest I don’t watch much of the independent scene to know enough about Aleister Black (formerly known as Tommy End) so I’m watching this match with fresh and excited eyes to see what the new NXT recruit can deliver. However, I do know a fair amount of what his opponent Andrade “Cien” Almas brings to the ring and since turning heel Almas has been fantastic. He’s probably the second-best heel on the roster, behind Roode and it’s a shame that he’ll probably lose on Saturday night. I expect a strong showing from Black in his debut and thanks to the improvement of Almas in recent months if this match is given a good amount of time it could be a potential show stealer.

Winner – Aleister Black

Authors of Pain vs #DIY vs The Revival (Triple Threat NXT Tag Team Titles Elimination match)

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of both The Revival and #DIY but once again I feel the NXT Tag team division is lacking quality much like the women’s division. It must be time for The Revival to be on the main roster because at the end of the day NXT is a developmental brand, which should solely prepare wrestlers for Raw and Smackdown. believe that The Revival’s call up is long overdue, therefore I’m ruling them out of the running for the win on Saturday. So, it comes down to Authors of Pain who are improving every week and my personal favorite tag team in WWE #DIY. I think Authors of Pain should retain and that we should see Tommaso Ciampa turn heel on Johnny Gargano, either by walking away scared of AOP, or attacking “Johnny Wrestling”. Then we get to see a feud between Ciampa and Gargano in NXT which will reinvigorate my interest in the brand. As for Authors of Pain, there’s always a possibility of them feuding with Heavy Machinery.

Winners and still NXT Tag Team Champions – Authors of Pain

Asuka vs Ember Moon (NXT Womens Championship match)

Asuka has been undefeated since she arrived in NXT in October 2015, but I think her streak will end at the hands of Ember Moon this Saturday, because simply if Ember doesn’t win, there’s no more realistic challengers for Asuka to face. For some time now I’ve been complaining about the Women’s division in NXT and the lack of it. I feel WWE have built Asuka so much they’ve forgotten about any serious competition for her and Ember Moon has been hot and cold since her debut at Takeover: Brooklyn. On some episodes of NXT, you can think that Ember is a contender but when she’s not on NXT you almost forget that she’s even on the roster. I hope Ember Moon defeats Asuka, then at Wrestlemania, Asuka can debut on the main roster and win the Smackdown Women’s Championship and begin her path of dominance on the main roster.

Winner and new NXT Womens Champion – Ember Moon

Booby Roode vs Shinsuke Nakamura (NXT Championship match)

I have a feeling that this is the most predictable match on the card, after their stellar match at Takeover: San Antonio, the Glorious Bobby Roode defends his NXT Championship against the King of Strong Style Shinsuke Nakamura. Personally, I hope this match finishes cleaner than their match back in January and there’s no chicanery with Nakamura injuring his knee and Roode stealing a victory. I understand it kept Nakamura strong and Roode as an opportunist, but I want to see Roode beat Nakamura clean and look like a dominant unbeatable champion and I do think this will happen on Saturday. Nakamura can set up for a Kinshasa, but Roode counters with a Spine buster, followed by a Glorious DDT and Roode retains. I expect Nakamura to debut on the post mania Raw or Smackdown (preferably Smackdown) and Bobby Roode can feud with Adam Cole Bay Bay, who is rumored to be joining NXT soon.

Winner and still NXT Champion – Bobby Roode

So, these are my predictions for NXT Takeover: Orlando! Do you agree? Let me know in the comments below! I hope you enjoy the show and I’ll be back on Sunday with my Takeover review!
