Old Skool View’s A Global Review Episode #5

It’s Monday, and that means it is time for yours truly, Old Skool View to look back at the most recent Impact offering to bring you three good and three bad.

One would think that with us heading towards Bound For Glory things would start to pick up and get interesting, so let’s get into it.

Three Good

Eli Drake Opening The Show – Man GFW have fallen on their feet by letting this guy have a run with the belt. A lot of this has me thinking back to when Bobby Roode won the gold a few years ago, it’s fresh, it’s different and it allows them to build. Plus any man that mentions he wants to do Eli Cakes and calling out all women that are size 2 with a DD cup deserves credit. Eli is making Impact very watchable indeed.

6 Man X Division Tag Match – Ignoring what went down pre and post match, the actually in ring work put on here was the best of the night. It’s usually the case when the X-Division comes to play but these 6 men worked very, very well together.

The Main Event – I had the feeling that the match pitting Fantasma & Texano against EC3 & Storm was going to be very good, but what surprised me more was the match didn’t end in a DQ finish, so I need to give them props there and that turned a good match into a better match storyline wise. I am still looking forward to how this turns out.

Three Bad

Johnny Impact – I get he has beef with Adonis & Drake, but having him cost Garza Jr the match, then taking a swing at him, which just leads to Impact vs Garza in a #1 contendership match next week that has a very predictable outcome just makes Garza Jr fodder in this whole thing. Bad decisions all round there.

Storyline Sense – This relates to the 6 man X Division tag match. First off out of nowhere Andrew Everett joins forces with Trevor Lee & Kaleb Conley…these guys were bitter enemies a month or so ago, and we’re expected to believe they’re now on the same page without an explanation other than Lee “brainwashing” Everett?

Then we get the whole thing post match with each face wanting to face Trevor Lee for the title at BFG. I’ve called a multi person match for this one for a long time and it seems that’s the route they’ll go…but that’ll make how many multi person matches on the BFG card? Lazy booking ahead perhaps?

Filler Time – Too much filler stuff this week for me. oVe had a squash with no sign of LAX confronting them. Grado has a quick VIP signing segment, Laurel was shown on a motor scooter, whatever these Global Forge segments are, and a horrid segment with Moose going to Lashley’s gym…that almost made the list on it’s own in fairness, but all this time could have been spent doing something more productive.

So there we have it, another week, another three good, three bad. As always you  can discuss my views through twitter and facebook over at the SLTD pages, so come on readers, get involved!
