Ryback: Why do WWE continue to push him?

Oh it’s me, it’s PWV!

What do the WWE see in Ryback? That’s the big question! He’s the “big guy”, in a generation of more lean athletic superstars, he’s the meat head in the generation of talented indie stars. He is the big muscle heavy guy that Vince McMahon is known to love. He fits perfectly into Vince Mcmahon’s vision of what a WWE superstar should be! However, he couldn’t be more wrong. When Ryback initially got his push, I like many others, was happy to see a new star dominating in the WWE and was 100% behind him to become the next WWE champion. However, now? I am growing tired of him, he is a superstar who if he had come about 10/15 years ago would have been huge! Like I said, he has the build that Vince McMahon loves. He just does not fit into this current generation of superstars.

He lost in his feud with Kevin Owens, which I could not have been happier about, Owens may be big, but he is completely different. He has god given talent for wrestling. He is quite easily one of the best wrestlers that I have ever had the privilege to watch. When Ryback lost the intercontinental championship to Owens, and eventually lost their feud I thought that maybe we would have a bit of a break from Ryback. Maybe WWE would not have him appear for a month or so and the absent may have helped the WWE universe grow fonder of him. However, this isn’t what they did.

Ryback is on our screens each week, and somehow he has inserted himself into the main event picture. He is not the superstar who deserves a push, but if he continues to get pushed it is holding down other incredible wrestlers. Wrestlers such as Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, Neville, Stardust. Wrestlers who are truly gifted, wrestlers who are so deserving of a big WWE push, wrestlers who the fans would get behind week after week. Wrestlers who the WWE universe want to succeed so badly!

However, with Vince McMahon in charge of the WWE, I have the bad feeling that we will continue to see more and more of Ryback on our TV screens. We will see more of the “Big Guy”, more of the superstars who fit Vince’s vision of what a wrestler should look like, and we will continue to see incredible talents such as Ziggler, Cesaro, Neville, Stardust, Ambrose and so many other in limited roles.

So get used to see Ryback week after week, because he isn’t going anywhere! What I would warn, however, is get used to him because within the next year I am sure we will (unfortunately) see him challenging for the WWE Championship!
