SLTD Predicts – The Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Once again Team SLTD have gotten together to give our thoughts on who we think will come out victorious at the Money in the Bank ladder match this Sunday. Will it be Dolph Ziggler, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura or Baron Corbin?

We all give our thoughts below but let us know in the comments below who you think will win!

@ColinHebert614 (The Curtain Jerker)
All of these guys would benefit greatly from winning this match, probably the 3 guys who aren’t main eventers, Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler and Sami Zayn, the most. I can’t get a feel on this one either, but I’m going to go with Kevin Owens to win and become a de facto babyface based on the fact that he’s the “Face of America” and will win the WWE World Title from the “evil foreigner” Jinder Mahal at some point.

As much as I like Ziggler, he’s not going to win this match, just because he’s become really irrelevant over the last few months, and he’s just in this match because of his ladder match experience and because WWE couldn’t find anyone for him to face.
I’ve lost total interest in Nakamura since his main roster debut, please WWE stop calling him a rockstar, the artist, just call him the King of Strong Style and he came to WWE to be the best wrestler in the world and if anyone argued with him on that point he would knock their teeth out. I hope he doesn’t win on Sunday and personally hope he feuds with a returning John Cena.
Baron is currently bookies favourite and I can see why, he’s been on the losing end of matches recently and usually when superstars lose a handful of matches they all of a sudden get a big victory and could Baron’s big victory come this Sunday, I still don’t think so, sure Baron’s great but he’s not on the level of an AJ Styles or Kevin Owens or John Cena, so I think Corbin loses but moves onto a feud with this man.

Owens is already US champion, he doesn’t really need the MITB briefcase even though it’ll be fun seeing KO the “Face of America” walk around with briefcase in one hand and title in the other, it just doesn’t need to happen. Over the last few weeks there’s been tension between Baron Corbin and Owens, therefore I see Owens taking himself and Corbin out of the match perhaps with Swanton off the top rope through a ladder. Then both men can have a heel/heel dynamic feud for the US Title over the summer, which can also include this superstar.

Zayn is kind of been the throne in the back of both Owens and Corbin for a while now, you know as soon as Sami appears Owens or Corbin won’t be far behind, if my Swanton bomb through a ladder idea doesn’t come to fruition, how about this Owens and Corbin are battling it out on the top of the ladder then all of the sudden the underdog from the underground appears and pushes both Corbin and KO off the ladder onto the outside. Sadly for Zayn he turns around into a superkick from Ziggler, Dolph though turns around into a Kinshasa from Nakamura, who then gets hit by Phenomena Forearm by this man and the man who I think wins this match.

So AJ hits Nakamura with a Phenomenal Forearm, climbs the ladder and grabs the briefcase. But why AJ Styles, I’m picking him for a number of reasons, number 1) he’s the best wrestler on the planet earth today. 2) the Smackdown ratings are down and I believe the only man that can boost the ratings again is the “face that runs the place” 3) and most crucially the WWE Title has been a joke since AJ dropped at the Royal Rumble, it has been in the terrible feud between Orton and Wyatt and now Orton and Jinder, now I’m all for opportunity but I’m afraid the Jinder project just isn’t working for me. One week you have him attacked by Rob Gronkoweski and beaten by Mojo Rawley, then the next week he’s number one contender. So in my ideal world, Jinder beats Orton, Orton gets mad takes out the Bollywood boys and Jinder post match this Sunday and this allows AJ Styles to cash in his briefcase instantly and hold the WWE Title forever, I doubt this will happen but please WWE make AJ the champion again and I’ll say nothing negative about you for the rest of 2017

The only person who will interest me by winning the briefcase will be Baron Corbin. Ziggler isn’t at the level to win the title again, it’s too soon for Nakamura, who is struggling a little on the main roster. AJ & KO don’t need the briefcase to elevate them as they’re already main event players, and Sami who could do wonders with a push, doesn’t have that sympathy level to deserve winning the title just yet. So all that leaves us with Corbin. I would love to see him work with the briefcase and give him the push he deserves off the back of it, unlike what they did with the Andre Battle Royal win last year.

@TownNation (The Fox Files)
In this one, we have 6 of the best competitors, and my 3 favorite wrestlers (in Nakamura, Owens and AJ) in the entire WWE. In the past when Ziggler & Owens have been in MITB matches, they have always pulled off some huge spots. I’m looking forward to seeing how Nakamura does here, and Corbin too.

Now I could say I wouldn’t be too bothered who wins, but I also am. I am definitely ruling out Ziggler, because that would annoy many fans, but they’re going to go 1 of 3 routes:

The first route WWE Could choose to go down is having Owens win. Now I know this is a strange one with him been United States Champion, but I can honestly see Owens shortly becoming both the WWE & United States Champion and been the only double champion in the WWE, and it’s been a long time since we’ve seen this(Rollins at Summerslam 2015 for a short spell) and honestly cannot think of a better person than Owens. Owens has also been losing his matches over these past few weeks, and the last time WWE did this was with Cesaro & Sheamus over on the red side before beating The Hardy’s, yet they won the big one. Possibly they’re trying to do the same with Owens?

The 2nd route they could go down is having Nakamura win. This is the pick that many WWE fans would like to see, including myself. Nakamura as MITB! That’s a line I’d never thought I’d say… i understand the argument from some saying it may be too early for him, but that’s those casual fans who only tune into WWE PPVs and not many other Wrestling events and other promotions outside the WWE. Those that have watched NXT & NJPW know the talent of this dude. He’s absolutely fantastic. And that’s the hardcore wrestling fans. Nakamura isn’t getting any younger, but at one of the biggest highs in his career when it comes to wrestling, strong style, and his promos are getting better and he’s got all the charisma in the world. Now is the right time to pull the trigger for Nakamura.

The last route, and the route I think they’ll go down, is having Baron Corbin win MITB. He is a former Andre The Giant Battle Royal winner, but they didn’t go all out(unfortunately) people are getting more and more invested now into Corbin though, some would call it a shock. Others can see it coming…

So, my pick for Mr. Money in the Bank, is Baron Corbin.

@kieranthekiz (UKayfabe)
The obvious choice for the mens Money In The Bank match is AJ Styles, but similar to the womens match, it’s an ideal opportunity to elevate someone new.
As much as I love Ziggler I cant see him being given the nod, likewise with Zayn. Nakamura has some more connecting to do with fans and Owens is already a champion so his involvement in the match is unjustified quite frankly.
For me, Baron Corbin is the man who should be holding the briefcase and would be a worthy future champion, especially after impressive bouts with Styles and Cena recently.
It’s time for the ‘lone wolf’ to take the spotlight.

@Tybo_SLTD (Tybo Talks)
All I really want from this match is someone who needs it to win, by that I mean not Styles, not Nakamura, not Ziggler and defiantly not Owens. Why Owens is even in the match when he is the United States Champion is baffling. Smackdown could of easily put Mojo or Dillinger in there and gave either guy a substantial push. I think Zayn will benefit most from winning the case, but I wouldn’t hate Corbin getting a main event push. There are a lot of interesting feuds that could come out of this match so I’m looking forward to seeing it play out.
