The Voice of Reason: SummerSlam 2015 Predictions

With the biggest wrestling event of the summer just days away, and what the WWE are calling, the biggest and best SummerSlam in history, it is only right to go thorugh each match and predict who may come out victorious. So let’s run through the list:

The Prime Time Players vs. Los Matadores vs. The Lucha Dragons vs. The New Day (WWE Tag Team Championship Match)

This will definitely be an exciting match up, and might even be the first match on the card. In recent times, the tag team division has looked a little weak, but in my opinion, the Prime Time Players have definitely been a fresh alternative as Tag Champions. The previous champs are also in the match, as The New Day (sucks) have definitely been entertaining over the last few weeks. They have played the perfect heels, thinking they are actually faces, cheating to win, but actually having some talent too. Expect this match to start with a fast pace, and definitely be all over the place at least for the first minute or so, but either way, this will definitely be a solid match.

Prediction: The Prime Time Players to retain. No reason to slow their momentum down as they have been good champions. There is an outside chance that The New Day will retain, just to go into another PPV with PTP vs The New Day.

Ryback vs. Big Show vs. The Miz (Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat Match)

This will be Ryback’s first title defence as Intercontinental Champion, and probably is the best spot for Ryback at this point in time. He has been a fan favourite for some time if you count the reaction to his Feed Me More chant. However, the slow burn of Ryback is much better for him right now. Having a title and his own little spot on the card is exactly the kind of exposure that he needs. Big Show and Miz are unlikely candidates to take the title from The Big Guy, especially on his first defence.

Prediction: Ryback

Team Bella vs. Team B.A.D. vs. PCB (Three Team Elimination Match)

The match to watch, the match I am more looking forward to in the night. A lot has been spoken about the #GiveDivasAChance movement that took place a while back, and although it took the WWE a little longer to react, they have certainly come good. First of all just expanding the division to a bigger and more competitive side, and forcing them to go against each other has worked wonders. Seeing more than one divas match on Raw has been refreshing and to some surprising, which is rather unfortunate.

Prediction: PCB. In my opinion are the biggest fan favourites with Charlotte in the team, and why not have them with the first match of this kind.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev

My my how good it is to see Dolph Ziggler back in the WWE. Definitely the best in ring performer the WWE has right now, and even Daniel Bryan was not injured, he would still be in the top 2. The passion and desire to just have the best match is rare these days. Rusev has had a massive slump since his loss to John Cena at Mania. I think Rusev needs the win more than Dolph, and Dolph.

Prediction: Rusev. Will set up another match at the next PPV this way too.

Stephen Amell And Neville vs. Stardust And King Barrett

Assuming this match will be either slap bang middle of the card or on the pre-show, most likely the latter. A celebrity in a match is unlikely to lose, especially when teaming with a babyface. I get the feeling this feud hasn’t really been thought through, more like it has been jumbled together last minute to get another match on the card to fill the 4 hour show.

Prediction: Amell and Neville

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

It’s no secret that I think Randy Orton should still be one of the to guys in the WWE. There are very few people that have what he does, the ring presence, the smoothness, and the ability to counter any move, and not just with an RKO. Randy is really one of the best commodities that the WWE have, and I don’t think anyone would have a problem with him being the champ again. But him being used to put over young talent in good matches is still an effective use. Sheamus has been fantastic on his return also, playing the big bad heel very very well. He has the presence and ability to be one of the top guys which is why he is the MITB winner this year. This match is slightly hard to predict but since Randy did get the win last time around, I think Sheamus takes this one.

Prediction: Sheamus. If Randy does end up winning, I would not be surprised to see a cash in on the night.

Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro

Usually not title matches can not make sense unless there is a very personal element to it. Both Cesaro and Owens have made this feud very interesting and on top of that, they have had some great matches. Hard to say who will win, but I expect this match to potentially steal the night.

Prediction: Owens. I think this will go on for another PPV so makes sense for Owens to win.

Roman Reigns And Dean Ambrose vs. The Wyatt Family

The Shield vs The Wyatt Family feud was one of my favourite during the dominant Shield era, and in my opinion ended much too soon. All superstars in this match can one day be the biggest in the company. Roman pinned with Dean is great for him as Dean is still a big fan favourite. I think mostly fans are just expecting to see an all out brawl.

Prediction: The Wyatt Family. Close to call but I think either Roman or Dean will make a turn on the night. Roman most likely, and let’s face it, it’s long overdue.

Seth Rollins vs. John Cena (WWE World Heavyweight Championship vs. United Stated Championship Match)

This is definitely the match I am dreading the most in the night. A title for title match, with the winner being the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and the United States Champion. Being a winner takes all match, I think this leaves us with only a few options on the finish. I expect either John Cena to win or a dodgy finish to the match where both competitors keep their titles.

Prediction: John Cena by DQ. Something suspicious about Cena’s promo on Raw this week with a lot aimed at Triple H so I expect him to interfere. Also expect this match to last quite a long time.

Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

15 months in the making. The rematch I have wanted to see since that heart stopping WrestleMania when Brock Lesnar beat the streak. Undertaker has seemed to find some passion and viciousness from somewhere deep within. I assume this stems from the fact that he looks like he is in the best physical condition than he has been in years. I still expect Brock Lesnar to carry this match and maybe a short triple to Suplex City.

Prediction: The Undertaker. Although the WWE have invested a lot into Brock Lesnar, this feels like a must not lose for The Undertaker. I expect the third and final round at WrestleMania. I do anticipate a dodgy finish, maybe involved Kane who we haven’t seen in a while. But if I’m honest, I want a clean with by The Dead Man.

Well there you have it folks. Hope you all enjoy SummerSlam and don’t forget to enter the SLTD Wresting Predictions League.
