Tybo Talks – Who’s next to make the jump?

Welcome once again to Tybo’s Talks! I am Tybo, and I’m sure by now you know that I am the ‘Five Star General’ of this operation we call SLTD Wrestling. It has been a long time since I have wrote on a regular basis, but my goal for 2017 is to write more. so lets get started.

With the Royal Rumble, just around the corner that means only one thing, the road to Wrestlemania is fast approaching. So, it is now that all the rumours and speculation starts on who will be the next NXT star to make the jump to the main event roster.

Although it can be somewhat hit and miss with NXT Stars making the jump from NXT to main roster WWE, there is no denying that a lot of successful superstars have come from Team Yellow. This can be seen all the way back to Seth Rollins being the first ever NXT Champion, or Xzavier Woods and Big E who were former NXT champions and now being the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history, and not to mention Dean Ambrose, Sami Zayn, Neville, The Wyatt Family, new Smackdown Tag Team Champions American Alpha’s and current Universal Champion Kevin Owens to name a few. But who’s next?

The smart money would say the next star to step up would be one of the two guys who have spent the last few month feuding over the NXT Championship, Shinsuke Nakamura or Samoa Joe. The fact that Nakamura recently won the title back from Joe in Japan, that coupled with Triple H in a recent interview that pretty much alluded to there being no plans to move Nakamura up any time soon says that the chances of him being the next guy is very slim.

So, could it be Samoa Joe? Honestly, I think this is far more likely to happen. There are already many ‘dirt sheets’ sending out rumours that Triple H is pushing for Joe to make his debut at the Royal Rumble match, and with Joe no longer being in the NXT Championship picture with Bobby Roode facing Nakamura at Takeover – San Antonio. There is also internet chatter that Chris Hero (formerly Kassius Ohno in NXT) is heading back to WWE, so if this is true he could quiet easily slip into Samoa Joe’s spot and create enough buzz around his return that now could be a perfect time to move Joe up.

There are some other superstars to consider outside of the obvious though. There is absolutely no denying that ‘The Perfect 10’ Ty Dillinger is one of the most over NXT stars right now. I think if WWE were not at least considering having Dillinger debut in the Royal Rumble at obviously entrant number 10 they are missing a massive opportunity to get a possible crowd pop of the night.

It is also worth mentioning that it’s been known in the past for NXT to do an elimination style match, or mini rumble before the Royal Rumble PPV and the winner is entered in the Rumble match.

With all the signs pointing to more than one debut at the Royal Rumble, who do I think is best fitted to make that leap? Honestly, I think Samoa Joe could really add something to the Raw roster which in my eyes could use at least a few weeks on must see shows, as Smackdown feels like a far better put together show and far more enjoyable to watch.

I think the only downfall would be to have a few guys move up on the road to Wrestlemania. Although the draft was great for a lot of individual NXT stars, I think the draft really hurt NXT as it took almost all their biggest stars. I would hope that WWE and NXT have learnt from this and don’t have three or four WWE debuts between now and Wrestlemania leaving NXT with no one who is over enough to garner the interest the likes of Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura and Booby Roode do.

Let us know below who you think could be the next NXT Star to move up to the main roster.
