This Week on the Internet January 29th

This past week Billy Corgan’s company, NWA, follow up on the empty arena match from the previous week by looking at the history of the NWA and Impact Wrestling. It is easy to forget how widespread the National Wrestling Alliance was once upon a time and that the best way to reach a new audience as a burgeoning company was to do it under the banner of the same. This is an interesting piece of wrestling documentary and makes one ask the question; Will we see a greater partnership between Impact and NWA in 2018?

Twitch is really becoming like a cooler alternative for wrestling fans, or rather, the casual wrestling fan. Many wrestlers are avid gamers and this opens up avenues for smart companies to garner new viewers. It has already worked for Impact and House of Hardcore. This week saw Chikara play Injustice 2 live on their channel, which you can watch by clicking the image. Twitch also announced ten days of wrestling, starting with Triple A’s big event. If you feel that there isn’t enough wrestling in your life, then go check out Twitch this week.

Now that the Pat Buck Show has gone to a bi-weekly format we will be able to hear tighter shows from the owner of Wrestlepro. This week he talks about the upcoming Brace for Impact show and details those things, also available on Twitch when it airs. He also talks to MJF, an up and coming wrestling star who will be at the latest MLW show. It is also great to listen to his trainer’s eye segment where he talks about how to best work certain wrestling moves.

As promised last week I have reviewed the latest One Night Only on my podcast, and the episode is added here below. The event, titled Collison in Oklahoma, wasn’t hosted by Impact itself but by two other promotions. There are a lot of unknown stars like Malico, The Young Guns, and El Fuego, but some really good wrestling from LAX, Allie, and Rosemary and it is worth watching for the return of DJZ alone. The double main events, Eli Drake vs. Montego Sika and Alberto El Patron vs Bobby Lashley, steal the show and brings it up several notches.

WWNLive continues to put out shows at a break neck speed and it is nice to see that they have found their footing after breaking it off with Floslam. This past Saturday saw Shine 48 with LuFisto vs Rain as the main event. If you are jaded from the crap that WWE calls the women’s division on either brand, then check out Shine 48.

That was the report from this past week’s digital world. If you have tips and ideas for the coming week that you feel the world should take notice of, tweet @stoughe or SLTDWrestling. Have a good week, until next week.
