Just like the Stark words, Survivor Series is coming. However, there is something that worries me about the PPV. How can we ensure that both Raw and SmackDown come out of the PPV on the same, level footing. So this week on WWMD we look at exactly that and what we need as fans.

We need equality

There are, at the moment, 6 inter-brand matches. We need to have 7 (see more about this later). We need to make sure that the wins are evenly split between the brands. Having a dominant brand on the night doesn’t help anybody. It doesn’t help the losing brand, or the fans of that brand. If there is a dominant brand then it will be clear that there is only one must watch show. This isn’t what is needed for WWE right now. Equality is needed.

We need havoc

Following on from the #UnderSiege attack from SmackDown, and the upcoming reprisal from Raw, we need havoc. We need a Battle Royale on the night between Raw and SmackDown. We need warfare back stage between Raw and SmackDown. Hell, Survivor Series opens itself up to interference in pretty much any match. The havoc that can take place at Survivor Series is insane, at it is the perfect time for that to happen.

We need unpredictability

From mid match run ins to post match beat downs, Survivor Series is must watch. However, we can get unpredictability during matches. Why not have Braun Strowman turn on Raw during the Men’s match? Or have Nia Jax join Team SmackDown during the Women’s match? So many possibilities are available right now for WWE to make it unpredictability. This PPV has never been short of controversy, so let it continue. The canvas is blank and Survivor Series and kick start the (long road) to WrestleMania.

We need NXT

To make sure that Raw and SmackDown finish in the same place, we need NXT. There shouldn’t be a clean winner between Mahal and Lesnar. Having one of them go over the other is wrong. It’s wrong for the shows, for the titles and for the wrestlers themselves. Instead, I’d like this to happen : Undisputed Era crash the main event. It makes perfect sense. NXT gets put over massively, it lets people who don’t watch NXT know about the big talent going on and both shows remain at the same strength.

Closing thoughts

Survivor Series could easily be the start of the road to WrestleMania. Between now and then, the only time that Raw and SmackDown should clash is the Royal Rumble. They can start story lines now, start character building and start to introduce new blood into the rosters. Long term planning is something which WWE really need right now and it can start at Survivor Series. Here’s hoping to a good show!
