NXT Revisited 03rd July: Best Friends Forever-ish

Another week, another solid episode of NXT. Apart from some has-bin cruiserweights with personality vacuums taking over the main event, it was a good show. This will be a short review because the show is short on matches and I’m short on time.

SAWFT French Fries

One night before the most vomit inducing patriotic day in America, came a Queen’s native defeating a frenchman in a matter of seconds. I like Cassaday and Enzo so I can forgive it, but the diplomacy of it isn’t subtle in the slightest.

Diddly Diddly

Ok, I didn’t touch on this last week because I was focusing on the in-ring talent of Becky Lynch (Rebecca Knox). It seems unless you are Sheamus, you have to be saddled with an offensive stereotypical gimmick at one point in your career if you are not from ‘Merica. So while I am VERY offended at the irish dancing and the “diddly diddly” crap she is doing, there is no denying that she is talented between the ropes and needs to showcase that and overcome the terrible gimmick.

For any of you that doubt me on this, remember; Cesaro is on the cusp of the main event, has been in 2 championship main events this year and USED TO HAVE A YODELING GIMMICK!!

In other news, the BFF’s are no more so I guess the “forever” part was optional! And yes, I know it stands for Beautiful Fierce Females.

ECO Bore-ior

I don’t like CJ Parker. I have no problem with people who want to save the planet, I do my part as much as I can. The problem I have, is that CJ Parker has little in the way of personality or talent. Yet he remains with a job while cost cutting has cost us main roster and NXT superstars with far superior abilities and upsides.

Cruiserweight Drama

The current top crop of talent in NXT are for the most part, great. Sami Zayn is at the top for me, with Adrian Neville second. Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel however, are not NXT talents in my eyes. They had their shot on the main roster and failed to connect with fans enough to warrant being kept there so now they are trying to rebuild themselves (while changing nothing about their characters) on NXT taking spots from other more deserving individuals.

When someone like RVD or Sheamus makes a special appearance on NXT to have a match with an up and coming talent, that is done for promotional reasons and because they respect the talent that is being built down there. When Kidd and Gabriel are featured week in and week out in feuds with the NXT champion, then I start to get annoyed because they are hogging spots from talents that should be in that spot.

The sooner they crash and burn again and get off my screen the better. Then we can realign and have Tyler Breeze take his shot at the title, have Zayn get it and win it for once.
