This week will be looking at the different matches coming up at this weekends Money in the Bank PPV. Today the spotlight will be on the Men’s Money in the Bank Match, pitting Owens, Styles, Corbin, Zayn, Ziggler and Nakamura. The graphic below is courtesy of WWE.com.
What would happen if Kevin Owens won?
This is the logical winner. Kevin Owens is having an amazing 2017 so far and it can continue at Money in the Bank. He could quite easily win ever major title in the next 12 months and the briefcase would help him. He’s a believeable and fun heel, he can work the mic and can work the ring. A simple conclusion to reach, but who knows what will happen.
What would happen if AJ Styles won?
AJ Styles doesn’t need to win here, so that puts him out of the running for me. He can easily be part of the WWE Title picture at any point. He can work with anyone in the ring and I’d expect him to have a lot of fun in the match. However for me, he shouldn’t win it – let someone else get the rub that the briefcase brings.
What would happen if Baron Corbin won?
Poor Baron Corbin. I really feel for the guy. He had a really promising start to life on the main roster, but he hasn’t done much. He’s in the match to make up the numbers and I can’t see him winning. Could he be used as the big guy in the match? For sure. He could do some really fun stuff with a ladder. But climbing it and winning? No chance for me.
What would happen if Sami Zayn won?
I would love to see Zayn win, I really do. At 32 he’s coming into his prime. He has the crowd, he has the mic and has the push. All he needs now is the final piece of the jigsaw. That piece is the Money in the Bank briefcase. With that in mind, he needs to win. If Zayn is to have a future in the WWE, he needs the belt.
What would happen if Dolph Ziggler won?
My heart wants Ziggler to win. He is someone who could make anyone look good in a match. He could wrestle a broom, a dishwasher or The Ascension. The man oozes talent. However, WWE creative don’t see the stock in him that the fans do. With that being said, I don’t see Ziggler winning. I want him to, but I don’t think it will happen.
What would happen if Shinsuke Nakamura won?
I think Nakamura is going to join the Corbin Club. We have a wrestler who is massively talented, amazing skills but not going over. We saw his potential in NXT but sadly, NXT doesn’t translate well to the main roster. Is that a failing of WWE Creative? Maybe. Is it a failing of the fans not tuning into NXT? Is it because we need more William Regal? Possibly. I think Nakamura could easily main event a WrestleMania, but his time isn’t now. He needs to get over with the crowd more before we see him as the number one guy on SmackDown.
What Would Matt Do?
I’d go for a unique finish to the match – both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn winning. How I hear you ask? Both climbing the ladder, taking off the briefcase and falling to the mat together, holding on. Then we get to see Owens vs Zayn at SummerSlam and who doesn’t want that? That would also keep the other wrestlers in the match strong and help to push them further. However, looking at what I said about Corbin, it wouldn’t surprise me if I were wrong about him.
