#AEW: Building The Brand – Who Should Go All In? (@TyboTalks , @callumowen98 , @stoughe ) Part One

With the news of All Elite Wrestling’s set up and their recent announcement of them officially running shows under the AEW banner, the last few weeks have been a whirlwind of who will sign for the brand new wrestling company (set to rival WWE).

There has been so many rumours lately of wrestlers from all different companies set to jump ship to wrestling newest brand, so @TyboTalks, @callumowen98 and @stoughe have gotten together for a new series, to add feul to the fire and let everyone know who sould go all in as we ‘Build the Brand’

@TyboTalks
Sami Callihan

Sami Callihan was a relatively unknown star, even though he had worked in a lot of major promotions, including WWE (remember Solomon Crane in NXT). That was until he accidentally smashed a bat into Eddie Edwards face on an Impact Wrestling TV taping. In a situation like this wrestles can go one of two ways, apologies and move on, or turn it into a gimmick. Callahan did the latter.

He turned up his intensity to the max, became the ultimate heel creating a ‘I just broke Eddie’s face’ t-shirt, and 100% lived the gimmick on all his social networks. It was then that i really started taking notice,  Callihan seemed to be on every indy show and was in a great position especially on Impact Wrestling, along with his OVE (Ohio Verses Everything) brothers.

Although Callihan is contracted to Impact, MLW, Lucha Underground, and some other smaller promotions, its time for him to go to the next level and show what he can do on a larger scale. AEW could be that stage to show what he is truly made of with AEW signing guys that Callihan has never wrestled (or not on a big stage). Just imagine how intense a Callahan vs. Jimmy Havoc or Pac could be.

The best this about Callihan is that he can be anywhere on a match card weather he is opening the show, the blood-feud in the middle or the main event, he always slots into that role and makes it believable, intense and real.

Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke Nakamura has had an up and down career in WWE, it began almost 3 years ago in Dallas, as he made his debut against Sami Zayn during the NXT Takeover show, in a match that will be remembered as one of the best NXT matches ever. He spent a full year down in Orlando, winning the NXT Championship on two occasions, before being called up on the Post Wrestlemania 33 episode of Smackdown, he was pushed instantly as a top babyface, but everything came to a halt when he lost twice to then WWE Champion Jinder Mahal in uninspiring fashion. He won the 2018 Royal Rumble match and then went on to face AJ Styles at Wrestlemania 34 in what everybody expected to be a Wrestlemania classic, however it didn’t eclipse their Wrestle Kingdom 10 match from two years prior and felt a bit of a disappointment.

Over the past 10 months, he’s turned heel, lost on 3 separate occasions to Styles, won the US Title, been off TV as US champion, and then dropped the title to Rusev, won it back at the Royal Rumble, only to lose it again 48 hours later to R-Truth. Nakamura was brought into WWE with so much hype and expectations, and now he is a mid-carder who struggles to get regular TV time, everyone wanted to see him Vs the likes of Brock Lesnar or Daniel Bryan, instead we’re getting him losing to R-Truth via roll ups.

Apparently he wants to stay in USA, so knowing his deal is up very soon, I personally think him joining AEW is the best move possible for someone who’s going nowhere in WWE. Imagine Nakamura being booked correctly, and facing the likes of Omega, Jericho, Cody, Page and PAC, he would be a big deal in this company and that’s why I think Shinsuke Nakamura should join AEW

‘Walking Weapon’ Josh Alexander

Josh Alexander is no spring chicken, but he is not at the end of his career either. The only thing that has stood in his way from becoming the next big thing has been the fact that he has remained in Canada. Just last year it seemed as if he might break out big, but due to visa issues he has been forced to stay in the Great White North, announcing via Twitter that he was going to be the King of Canadian Strong Style.

As such Alexander has been a mainstay of Smash, Defy and BCW, winning championships and getting a cult like following among those who know him and his signature ear pieces. He has also wrestled in Impact Wrestling during the sojurns in his home nation.

Alexander’s strength is his blended style of classic wrestling and modern strong style. He showed this in his cage match against Sami Callihan where blood literaly poured from his forehead. In a promotion like AEW, which seems to be shaping up to be a promotion of fun loving athletes, Alexander would bring a good portion of both seriousness and believability. If the goal of the promotion is to bring quality storylines to there presumptive TV deal then Alexander could give a dimension that very few of the current roster members can.
