AOB’s WWE Survivor Series Predictions

It’s been a while! I couldn’t get an article up last weekend because my head was killing me, so I’m sorry about that. But never fear! This will be the first of two articles from me this week, with ‘Under the Spotlight’ on Sunday and my Survivor Series Predictions today.
In case you didn’t know, the 27th annual Survivor Series event takes place this Sunday on the 24th of November, from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Unfortunately, it’s clear that Survivor Series has lost its former glory. It’s supposed to be one of the WWE’s “big four” Pay-Per-Views, but in recent years it looks like Money in the Bank has taken its spot as one of the most important shows of the year. There are a few matches on the show this Sunday that I’m intrigued by, but it’s a pity that WWE don’t take the event as seriously as they used to. The same can be said for their weekly TV shows. The go-home show for a PPV is supposed to convince you to spend money to watch the event, but this week’s Raw was utter shite. Country music? Really? Bullshit. I can definitely see that reflecting in the buy rates for Sunday’s show. Nevertheless, I do love a good Traditional Survivor Series Tag-Team Match, so hopefully we can put this past Monday’s clusterfuck of a Raw behind us and enjoy the show. In case you were wondering; yes. We will be buying the show, because Survivor Series, that’s why. Right, so I’m looking forward to it. Without further ado, let’s get down to business, shall we?

Survivor Series Kick-off: Kofi Kingston vs. The Mizsurvivorseries2013kickoff
Seeing The Miz screw Kofi Kingston over this week on Raw was pretty good. The guy does seem in his element when he’s playing the heel, so maybe this will be a good thing for him. There’s no doubt that he’s been lost in the shuffle for the last several years (including his WWE Championship reign), but he’s had time to grow and maybe he can do even better in his second run as a villain. This match could’ve used way more build-up, but it’s on the Pre-Show, so who cares? I haven’t read any spoilers for this week’s Smackdown, so maybe things are clarified then, but Miz should’ve cut a promo or something on why he miraculously decided to become an asshole again. I know why, because nobody cares about him, he is lost in the shuffle and Kofi Kingston gets all the love (and the other reasons from his first heel turn in Belfast…). This has the potential to turn into an actual mid-card rivalry, so hopefully it does go somewhere. It’s not like either of them have anything better to do. Miz’s new-found character has to guarantee him a victory here. Otherwise there is absolutely no point in wasting the energy to turn him heel. A skull-crushing finale gives Miz the victory.
Winner: The Miz

Intercontinental Championship: Big E Langston (c) vs. Curtis Axelsurvivorseries2013ictitle
Obviously, the Curtis Axel project was a failure, and I am quite disappointed by that. However, it was nice to see Langston get his hands on the Intercontinental Championship. I’m a big fan of the guy, and when he actually pinned Axel, I could barely believe it. It will be a much-needed change to the mid-card scene, now that the Championship won’t be overshadowed by Paul Heyman’s business. I do like Curtis Axel, and feel like he does have a lot to prove (and the ability to pull it off) in the WWE, but I do welcome the change. I’ve stated in previous articles that Axel needed to lose the Championship, because there’s no point in the strap being used as an item of jewellery for Heyman and Axel instead of actually being a title belt. And this could be the start of a new, more aggressive side to Curtis Axel now that he has lost the gold. Then again, he could also be thrown to the wayside now that he’s got no title and no manager. Whatever happens, he did need to lose the Championship, and Big E Langston was the right guy to take it from him. Hopefully he brings some refreshment to the mid-card scene, because we all know how much it’s needed. There’s no question about this one. Big E Langston has it in the bag.
Winner and still Intercontinental Champion: Big E Langston

Cody Rhodes, Goldust, The Usos & Rey Mysterio vs. The Shield and The Real Americanssurvivorseries2013rhodesusosmysteriorealamericansshield
This is going to be the match of the night. It may be the only important traditional tag-match this year, but it’s going to be awesome. Cody Rhodes and Goldust are amazing, and they are both at the top of their game recently. The Usos are getting some much-deserved spotlight and I wouldn’t be surprised if they got their hands on some gold in the near future. Rey Mysterio had a bit of a rocky return, but he is on a team with four other guys, so the match shouldn’t be too strenuous on the man. He’s definitely at the stage in his career where he needs to start considering retirement, but for now we can enjoy what can only be assumed is his last run with the WWE. On the other hand, we’ve got the Real Americans, who, led by the genius of Zeb Colter, have been one of the WWE’s most interesting tag-teams in recent months. And we’ve got The Shield, who need no explanation or introduction. I won’t be surprised to see a babyface victory here, because of Mysterio’s return and the momentum that the Rhodes’ have, but I won’t mind either way. I can see Rey Mysterio getting the pin, but I have a feeling that Cody Rhodes will be the only man joining him as the sole survivor. Goldust could be there too, but that might make the Usos look bad if they get eliminated and the rest don’t. I’m looking forward to this one, so hopefully all ten participants deliver this Sunday.
Winners Cody Rhodes, Goldust, The Usos & Rey Mysterio
Sole Survivors: Rey Mysterio and Cody Rhodes

World Heavyweight Championship: John Cena (c) vs. Alberto Del Riosurvivorseries2013worldtitlematch
Awwwwwwwwww…
I can’t wait for John Cena to face Alberto Del Rio… said nobody ever. Which is funny, considering we’ve seen it a THOUSAND TIMES. Let’s just hope this Sunday can live up to their epic, 5-Star ‘Miracle on 34th Street Fight’ from last Christmas… In all seriousness though, what do we think of John Cena’s reign as World Heavyweight Champion? Granted, he is making people look at that Title again, which is good, but it’s obvious he’s not healed from his injury, and if he doesn’t leave again, he’s screwed. The guy is dumb for coming back. Plain and simple. You can sugar-coat it all you want, “oh, he just loves the WWE” or “his Never Give Up spirit is so inspiring”, blah, blah, blah. The guy is literally an idiot for coming back so soon. Not because he’s John Cena. Just because he’s going to shorten his career if he keeps this up, and then what will he have? Oh, he’ll have his millions and millions of dollars and his fast cars, but he won’t have competition, which is what he wants the most. It’s his own fault if he ends up hurting the arm to the extent that he has to retire. Then again, he’ll probably still kick out at two. And then there’s Berty. Two words; Die, Berty. I hate him more than Hitler. Someone tell Zeb Colter to get this guy deported. If John Cena loses, which he won’t, because cena wins lol, then this “feud” will continue, and that is a definite no-no. If John Cena could lock in the STF and rip Alberto Del Rio’s head off his shoulders and injure his own arm in the process, that would be great. Thanks.
Winner and still World Heavyweight Champion: John Cena

Natalya, The Bella Twins, The Funkadactyls, Eva Marie, & JoJo vs. AJ Lee, Tamina Snuka, Kaitlyn, Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendes, Aksana, & Summer Raesurvivorseries2013divasmatch
I don’t know what to say about this. It is great for the Divas to finally get some decent recognition in the WWE, but after that musical chairs fiasco on Raw, I can’t think about this in a positive way. Who in the hell came up with that idea? I reckon someone on the creative team just went into work one day last week and said “listen guys, I’ve got it; a shitload of Divas in the ring… and… Musical Chairs!” to which Vince McMahon stood up from his throne, said “Genius” and slowly started clapping his hands until everyone at the meeting just burst into a full-blown applause. I honestly would not be surprised. Thank God AJ wasn’t there. At least there’s one Diva who still has some dignity left, and she was against Vickie Guerrero for God’s sake. It’s clear that they aren’t going to let the Total Divas lose here, what with the series being back again, so expect them to get the victory. I know it sounds really, really bad for the rest of the Divas, but I have a feeling that none of the Total Divas are going to be eliminated. From my understanding, JoJo is too young to compete, so expect her to become friendly with the ring apron, and Eva Marie can’t wrestle for shit, so hopefully she doesn’t get tagged. But it really sounds like something WWE would do. It might be 7-on-7, but don’t expect it to be very long. It’ll be over before you can say “where’s the remote?”
Winners: Total Divas
Sole Survivors: Natalya, The Bella Twins, The Funkadactyls, Eva Marie, & JoJo

CM Punk and Daniel Bryan vs. The Wyatt Familysurvivorseries2013punkbryanwyatts
If there was ever a dream team, it’s CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Wow. Should they be in a tag-team match at one of WWE’s biggest PPVs? No, but it is Survivor Series, and that’s known for tag-team matches, so you can forgive it. Plus, facing CM Punk and Daniel Bryan is huge for the Wyatt Family. I would like to see Bray in more matches, but if I understand correctly, the guy’s injured at the moment so hopefully he’ll be cleared to compete soon enough. In the meantime, Rowan and Harper will suffice. Not everyone likes them, but I do. They’re big dudes that want to rip people in two, and it comes across on TV. The guys are intense. And Erick Rowan’s beard is amazing. Harper’s is good too, but Rowan’s is awe-inspiring. I’m judging them based on their beards, but yeah, they’re pretty fantastic. And I don’t even need to say how I feel about Bryan and Punk. I don’t know if they’d go for it, but if they want the Wyatt Family to continue as a dominant force in the WWE, and want this feud to continue, the Wyatt Family needs the victory. It would be a major upset, and would make things very interesting as we move forward to TLC. I’d definitely consider it. If CM Punk and Daniel Bryan win, there’s nowhere for the rivalry to go, and the Wyatts lose all credibility as major players. You do the math. Bray Wyatt has to get involved somehow, but either way, I predict that Punk and Bryan will be following the buzzards this Sunday at Survivor Series.
Winners: Erick Rowan & Luke Harper

WWE Championship: Randy Orton (c) vs. Big Showsurvivorseries2013wwetitlematch
Many people couldn’t care less about this match, but after seeing it live a couple of weeks ago, I think it’s going to exceed expectations. The build-up has been decent (the chokeslam through the table was the highlight for me), and since they’ve ruled out The Shield interfering, it does make things more interesting. It’s been suggested that Big Show might become a part of the Authority, but I hope not. He already changes his personality more often than John Cena changes his t-shirt, so another heel turn would be way too much. Plus, I’ve always preferred him as a babyface, and Orton as a heel. I understand that Triple H looks to be finished with Randy Orton, but I think this will be the Viper’s last chance to impress, and I also think he’ll deliver the goods. It makes more sense. If Orton’s the Champion, the whole “face of the WWE” thing can continue, the possibility of a unification match with John Cena at Wrestlemania is still there (I hope they don’t do it though) and Big Show could still face off with Triple H at some stage, which I’d like to see. This will be Randy Orton’s final opportunity to show why he’s the face of the WWE, and since Big Show’s momentum has been on the rise, Orton might get the surprise victory on Sunday and prove himself to the Authority. It sounds like the logical thing to do for me, but we’ll have to see how it goes at Survivor Series.
Winner and still WWE Champion: Randy Orton
