#FazzasThoughts: ‘I’m Not A Fan of #JonMoxley’ (@FazzasThoughts)

This is going to get me a lot of hate, I can already feel it, but I need to be honest; I’m not a fan of Jon Moxley. In fact, I prefer his Dean Ambrose character over Moxley. Now there are numerous reasons for this, and I promise I’ll go into detail of why for each point. I’ll also state his in-ring ability is strong, so that won’t be a reason I’m not a fan.

His Character is Repetitive
Since joining AEW, Moxley has been in the main event scene from the beginning. His debut was spoken of all around the world and rightly so. Moxley showed up and took out Chris Jericho, leading to him eventually taking the AEW title away from ‘Le Champion’. Since then he has gone on to feud with Brodie Lee, Lance Archer, Jake Hager, MJF and more. But in every single story, the outcome has been the same, and the reasons they’re fighting are the same. It isn’t really personal, but it’s all about the AEW title. Whilst this is a good thing for the title, it really isn’t for character development.

Backstage Segments
Whilst I will say Moxley is great on the mic, I can’t stand to see another backstage talking into the camera segment. From walking back and forth to the repetitive tones, I struggle to care as to the reason for the segment. It is a major reason as to why I wanted MJF to win, because every time he gets the chance to talk, I listen. I like seeing Moxley talk against someone rather than talking by himself to the camera, I lose interest very quickly.

He Keeps on Winning
Just like other talents I’ve lost interest in i.e. John Cena, Roman Reigns etc, I don’t like it when a wrestler continues to get put over. I understand he’s the top talent in the company, but some talents don’t need a title to make them relevant. Chris Jericho is a prime example of a talent who can get put over without any title, and he knows about building the future stars of the company. I don’t blame Moxley for this, but I do think AEW need to be smart in hampering any future stars they could build.

Maybe it’s me and maybe I’m wrong, but I just feel like there is so much more from him that we don’t get to see. The thing I loved about The Rock, Stone Cold, Triple H etc is that they evolved. Even now, Roman Reigns is having one of the most fascinating characters develops I’ve seen for a long time. Jon Moxley could fit into this mould easily, but I will give him praise. He is very talented and I can see why so many people do like him, he’s just not someone that interests me.
