How to improve the WWE

A lot of WWE fans have felt disillusioned recently with the overall WWE product, after a poor Survivor Series many WWE fans have switched off their TV’s and cancelled their WWE Network subscriptions They have aired their opinions on social media and more bad news came for WWE as the Raw following Survivor Series received the lowest ever ratoings with under 3 million viewers on average in USA. However what can WWE do to change, not just the Raw ratings problem but the problem of many fans boycotting WWE for good? What can we as WWE fans and them, as the million dollar corporation do to make the WWE better?

Take a break

It’s something that seems unlikely but every TV Show does it so why shouldn’t WWE? I believe it’ll be a positive for them as it will freshen up the roster as 2015 has been a terrible year for injuries with many top names spending some of the year on the sidelines. Also by taking a break the WWE Universe will be hungry to see their favourite superstars and divas return. As an idea I would have liked to have seen WWE finish their year after Survivor Series then restart their season in February with the Royal Rumble.

Brand split

This is something I’ve been wanting for a while now because I feel the current WWE roster is one of the best it has been. I feel there are 10-12 superstars who could rightfully claim being WWE Champion and there is a strong tag team division. With veterans like The Dudley Boyz, exciting high flyers like Lucha Dragons, The Usos, the entertaining team of The New Day and The Wyatt Family there’s also another 10 superstars who can easily fill up the tag division, especially if a few NXT Tag Teams were added to the mix occasionally. So what should WWE do, well it’s simple make Smackdown watchable again, have a brand split and bring back the yearly draft, within that the Cruiserweight division can also return. So here would be the outline for what WWE could look like, if there was a brand split and if there was a full roster with no injuries.

Raw

WWE Champion – John Cena. This is because he is a recognisable name across the WWE and mainstream media. He is the right guy to be leading your company on your flagship show.

Intercontinental Championship – Kevin Owens

World Tag Team Champions – Cesaro and Tyson Kidd

Divas Champion – Sasha Banks

Smackdown

World Heavyweight Champion – Dean Ambrose

United States Champion – Dolph Ziggler

WWE Tag Team Champions – The Wyatt Family

Cruiserweight Champion – Neville

Reduce the Show to 2 Hours

A weekly 3 hour TV show, has become a huge problem in my opinion because quite frankly I don’t know any other 3 hour show apart from Raw. So surely WWE should revert back to a two hour show as with 3 hours there are way too many advert breaks. I mean I watch Raw live some weeks and I think in one hour there was about 5 or 6 advert breaks which for a live television show is too much. I understand it’s broadcasted in America and they have a lot of advert breaks however it’s very annoying for half way through the main event for Michael Cole to say “we have to go to another advert break”. Therefore if Raw went back to two hours, firstly there would be less advert breaks, but also less filler spots. The amount of rubbish there has been on Raw these past couple of week has been awful. If it went back to two hours this could all be cut, I mean who wants to see Heath Slater hit Ryback with a guitar or Adam Rose present “Rosebush”?

Less Predictable

“Welcome to Monday Night Raw”, then Triple H’s or any other heel faction or superstar music hits, then we have a long drawn out promo until a face interrupts, and then a match is made between a heel and a face. That seems to be the formula for the first 20 minutes of every Raw and even Smackdown. Why not for a couple of weeks, start with a match? Imagine if Raw comes on the air, we have Dolph Ziggler and Tyler Breeze standing in the ring and the match starts it’s a different formula and something different to the norm. If people are turning off if they see The Authority standing in the ring and cutting a twenty minute promo then maybe people will watch if they see a match at the start of Raw, they wouldn’t be expecting it, thus making it less predictable.

This is just a small list on what I think WWE need to do to improve their current product. What are everyone else’s opinions on it? What would you do to make it better?

The Wrestling Brain will be taking a sabbatical from now on, however I (Callum Owen) will still be involved with SLTDWrestling as I will be working on Facebook.
