#KWKorner: How Survivor Series is Shaping Up (@thekantastic)

As week after week we’ve seen the NXT ‘take over’ on RAW and Smackdown, there are signs of how the three brands will be competing against each other, barring the matches already announced.

The tag team match and the middle card title match has been confirmed, with each brand’s respective champions going at it, however the one change thus far is the New Day representing Smackdown after capturing their seventh tag title from the Revival last week. The only blemish on that is we wouldn’t be able to see a triple threat match between three former and current NXT tag team champions.

The triple threat between US Champion AJ Styles, Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and NXT North American Champion Roderick Strong should be an instant classic for fans of NJPW and ROH, where all three men previously made their name in professional wrestling.

However, as of last week’s Smackdown there may be a future match happening between Nakamura and Braun Strowman for the IC title, and if Strowman takes the belt before Survivor Series…well let’s just say a triple threat match that could be a technical classic is in serious jeopardy.

As for each brand’s respective top champion, with Brock Lesnar facing Rey Mysterio and ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt taking on Daniel Bryan for the WWE and Universal Championship, respectively, it is looking more likely that NXT Champion Adam Cole will be leading the charge for the men’s Survivor Series triple threat match for the black and yellow brand.

The thing is, having a triple threat match between the main champions may not have been ideal. Lesnar still needs to look strong after becoming WWE champion again and knocking off his old MMA rival Cain Velasquez. The Fiend persona of Wyatt is having a seriously hot run as well, so having him lose to Brock would only diminish the character, which they almost did with that botched finished against Seth Rollns at Hell in a Cell.

Putting in Adam Cole, who is more like a cruiserweight from a main roster standpoint, between those two behemoths only serves to kill the momentum that the Undisputed Era’s leader built up since the NXT began their ‘take over’ angle, with back to back matches against Rollins and Bryan. Cole would be leading the NXT team against most likely Rollins for RAW and Roman Reigns for Smackdown.

A triple threat confrontation between those three would be something much more worthwhile to see. Do you agree?
