NXT Dallas: Rasslin Roundup

WWE NXT Dallas is a Network available, Network exclusive offering scheduled for Friday April 1st at 10:00 PM/ET. NXT for those who do not know is the third brand of WWE. But the matches, acquisitions, excitement and thrills are action packed and exceed the “third brand” and developmental stigma.

NXT has acquired most recently Shinsuke Nakamura from Japan; and Austin Aires formerly of ROH and TNA Impact. WWE is in talks with both Eric Young and Bobby Roode. These three men have departed the “competition” in TNA Impact Wrestling. NXT is showing why people want and freely sign up to be a part of something special, and a brand perhaps that is more rabid, passionate and better than the live RAW or Smackdown Roster (depending on who you ask, and the school of thought you are from).

WWE COO Triple H has also expanded and returned the Dusty Rhodes Memorial Tournament; engaging in more action upcoming along with their ever-growing tour. There is a working relationship with Dragon Gate USA/Evolve with Gabe Sapolsky. This partnership was announced to bring a Cruiserweight Open and those matches (some, if not all) will be a tournament style and featured on NXT. Other bouts will be presented via Progress Wrestling, Dragon Gate USA/Evolve and Revolution Pro Wrestling. All matches will air on the WWE Network starting July 13th.

NXT Dallas is the captivating and compelling show that will air prior to Wrestlemania and showcase the best of the best on that roster. The future has indeed arrived and is now.

The following six matches will be as follows, as Samoa Joe and Finn Balor wrestle in the main event for the NXT Heavyweight championship. The NXT Tag team titles will also be up for grabs and pit the Arrival- Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson against the American Alpha. American Alpha is the team of Gable and Jordan. How ironic that this match will be the show-stopper and also revitalize the tag team ranks in both NXT and WWE. The Arrival is the modern day Brain-Busters of Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard facing off against the newer incarnate of WGTT, The World’s Greatest Tag Team; formerly known as Team Angle. We will recall WGTT as the tandem pitting Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas.

In other action, we will see Baron Corbin who for weeks has sneak attacked and been vehemently against the swagger, the entry of his opponent; Austin Aires. From NJPW, New Japan Pro Wrestling and the Bullet Club feature Shinsuke Nakamura versus Sami Zayn. Another singles competition will feature “The Drifter” Elias Samson versus Apollo Crews.

The semi-main event will feature the women of NXT. Asuka (Aw-skah) will receive her long awaited title shot and is Bayley’s reign in jeopardy? Asuka seems to be the most vital and dangerous opponent who’s swift and no-wasted movements are hard-hitting and dire for any opponent. Bayley will defend her title which she has held since August of NXT Brooklyn versus Asuka; the former Kana.

Predictions from the Rasslin Roundup of the winners are as follows: American Alpha winning, Samoa Joe defeating Balor for the title. Nakamura over Zayn; and thanks to interference from KO, Kevin Owens. Aires will defeat Corbin, and Crews wins by DQ or count-out over Samson. In a swerve, as some predict she will lose her title; Bayley keeps her reign going and will try to eclipse or reach the longest NXT Women’s title holder.

In closing, the final lineup of matches appears as follows:
• Bayley-Asuka
• Finn Balor-Samoa Joe
• Baron Corbin-Austin Aires
• Shinsuke Nakamura-Sami Zayn
• Apollo Crews-“The Drifter” Elias Samson
• The Arrival (Wilder & Dawson)- American Alpha (Gable & Jordan)

As fans, this looks like an awesome card and on the eve of an eleven total card (Kickoff included, seven live) for Wrestlemania. Which NXT bout are YOU looking forward to, and will tear the house down?
