Old Skool View Presents….A New Year A New Start?

Old Skool View welcomes you to 2017, I hope you all had  excellent Christmas and New Year festivities. We’ve had a nice little break now it’s time to get back to it.

So WWE have started their build to Wrestlemania as we head towards the Royal Rumble, and we were all full of hope that in 2017, we would see a fresh start for some of the older faces in the company, and within the first week, especially on Smackdown we got three, arguably four new starts.

First off we have Dolph Ziggler, who has finally snapped and turned heel. Ziggler is more natural as an heel, so this could well be the start of him coming back into his own in the build towards Wrestlemania, however it could also be the start of him starting to elevate more talent that need the help, which leads us on to……

Apollo Crews. Since the brand split, Apollo has done pretty much nothing after an original little push. He came to the main roster as probably the one with most to prove after only being in NXT for a short period of time. Now he’s seemingly being put in their with Ziggler, which well help him come on a bit more, so could we finally see a bit of spark on the main roster for Apollo?

Lastly, in the first week of the new year, we have a new Intercontinental Champion in Dean Ambrose. Ambrose spent the majority of 2016 in a main event slot, and now he has a new position to run with in 2017. I’m not sure if this is the long rebuild for Ambrose or not as it’s too early to tell, however a new year and a new start for Ambrose could be just the thing he needs.

There’s also an argument that the guy that dropped the Intercontinental Championship, The Miz, is also have a fresh start for 2017. Sure he’s going to get the rematch with Ambrose over the title, but after being THE standout star since the brand split, could we be poised to see The Miz deservedly move up to the main event scene on Smackdown?

Obviously more fresh starts could be made in the week ahead, but Smackdown have certainly made a head start on Raw, so will this continue or will Raw pull back and give more people a fresh start for 2017?
