#RawReport – 17th September 2018 (@runner_rope)

Here are the main talking points from this week’s Raw which saw the fallout of the past weekend’s Hell in a Cell Pay-per-view.

Diamond of a Match Made for Crown Jewel

The show was kicked off by Universal champion Roman Reigns as he came down to the ring to call out Brock Lesnar after his actions at Hell in a Cell. Instead, Braun Strowman arrived to also call out The Beast for some retribution for what happened the night before. Acting Raw general manager, Baron Corbin then came out to announce a triple-threat match for the Universal championship between Reigns, Strowman and Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on November 2nd. This has the makings of a hard-hitting classic and will definitely be one to watch.

Universal Match Madness

After announcing the triple-threat for Crown Jewel, Corbin proclaimed that he will be taking on Reigns for the Universal championship in the night’s main event. This match had everything from a match restart to multiple run-ins, but despite all the commotion at ringside, Reigns was able to pick up the win with a spear on Corbin for the win. I must admit, I am liking Corbin in this authority figure role as I feel he is playing it to perfection. What excites me, even more, is that this storyline could be leading to a future match between Corbin and former Raw GM Kurt Angle, and it’s always great to see Angle in his signature singlet.

Riott Squad Ruin Rousey’s Open Challenge

Raw women’s champion Ronda Rousey issued an open challenge to anyone on the Raw women’s roster. It seemed that Natalya had answered the call when her music hit. This wasn’t to be however as the Riott Squad dragged a lifeless Natalya out to the stage and proclaimed that Ruby Riott would be accepting the open challenge. This was just a ploy for the Riott squad to attack Rousey, this allowed the Bella twins to come to Rousey’s aid and clear the Riott squad from the ring. This was definitely to hype up the two trio’s match in three weeks at WWE Super Show Down which unfortunately has an obvious winner.

Ziggler and Rollins go to War Once More

This week’s Raw saw Dolph Ziggler invoke his Intercontinental title rematch clause which he lost to Rollins at Summerslam. This match was a fantastic bout where both men sold their injuries from the Cell fall the previous night very well. Rollins eventually retained his championship after hitting Ziggler with The Stomp. Hopefully, now we see a new challenger for Rollin’s belt as these two have battled more than enough times for the IC championship.

Jax Returns to Raw

Former Raw women’s champion Nia Jax returned to Monday nights after a couple months on the sidelines to team with Ember Moon to take on the tandem of Alicia Fox and Mickie James. Jax and Moon won the match after an Eclipse on James for the win. It’s nice to see Jax back and I hope that she gets a marquee at the upcoming all women’s Pay-per-view WWE Evolution. I personally would like to see Jax square off against the Glamazon Beth Phoenix.
