#SummerSlamWeek #TheWrestlingBrains Predict #SummerSlam (@XterBlack | @callumowen98)

Hello it’s me TWB and The Wrestling Brain has officially expanded, from now on there will be two brains with me @callumowen98 and now @XterBlack has joined The Wrestling Brain Brand.

Today we’re here giving you our predictions for Sunday night’s Summerslam PPV. Now what we’ve done is split the card into two, and I am predicting one half of the card and Adam will be predicting the other.

Callum Predicts: Brock Lesnar (C) Vs Seth Rollins – Universal Championship

Last month at Extreme Rules, my heart sank when Brock Lesnar cashed in on Seth Rollins, as everyone knows I’m a Rollins fan, and although his momentum has gone downhill since Wrestlemania I’m still rooting for him to win on Sunday night.

Seeing Brock Lesnar more regularly on TV does feel fresh and different, but we’ve seen him as Universal Champion, for the best part of 2 years, so it’s really not that enticing seeing him hold the belt again for a lengthy stint. And the momentum Seth has lost could be down to the poor booking of his character, and his main feud as champion was against Baron Corbin, where WWE stretched out 3 title matches for the Lone Wolf and none of them was particularly enjoyable.

So with that in mind, I hope Rollins regains the title, then he can feud with the likes of the newly turned heel AJ Styles, or possibly have a face Vs face feuds with Roman Reigns, Ricochet and Braun Strowman, or take on The Fiend Bray Wyatt. Winner: New Champion – Seth Rollins

Adam Predicts: Kofi Kingston (C) Vs. Randy Orton – WWE Championship

Aside from the cliched death and taxes, few things are certain in life. One thing you can beat your house on is that Randy Orton will have some sort of prominent role at SummerSlam.

This year, he’s squaring off against current WWE Champion Kofi Kingston in a match for the championship that has thankfully thrown back to their superb programme in 2009 that was brought to an anticlimactic end as Orton (admittedly) pulled the plug and used his ‘position’ to influence Kofi’s de-push and middling position in the company for years to come. I have to admit, this is probably the match at SummerSlam that I am most looking forward too.

It feels like a natural, organic build and the first real threat to Kofi’s Championship since he won it at Wrestlemania. Kofi has been an incredibly strong champion and I just can’t see him losing it here although, saying that, there’s something in the story of having Orton win to ‘prove his point’ only for Kofi to chase him down and regain it to prove his worth. Going with my gut. Winner: STILL WWE Champion – Kofi Kingston

Callum Predicts: Bayley (C) Vs Ember Moon – Smackdown Women’s Championship

If this match had more build, then this would be a match of the night contender. Ember was one of my favourite female wrestlers in NXT, and Bayley has had memorable moments, but she’s yet to have a career-defining match on the main roster to the same level as a Bayley Vs Sasha. Bayley’s title run has been somewhat underwhelming, but I believe that’s due to her not being strongly booked and featured on Smackdown.

I think Bayley wins on Sunday despite a spirited effort from Ember, then hopefully she can enter a rivalry with someone like Shayna Baszler from NXT, as that may feel like a big-time storyline for the current Smackdown Women’s Champion. Winner: Still Champion – Bayley

Raw Women’s Championship

Adam Predicts: Becky Lynch (C) Vs. Natalya (Submission Match) – Raw Women’s Championship

In the past, whenever I’ve seen her as a challenger, I’ve never believed in Natalya as a legitimate badass threat or as a strong prospect to carry a division as champion. There’s no doubt that Nattie has the credentials and skill to be a sure-fire Hall Of Famer one day but she has always been more of a journeyman for me – She’ll take the loses and put over all the various flavours of the month in return for a couple of ‘spectacle’ matches here and there, such as this one.

The submission stipulation makes sense given the finishing moves of both competitors but this just seems like another tick in the win column for ‘The Man’ as she moves on waiting for some ‘real’ competition. Winner: STILL Champion – Becky Lynch

Callum Predicts: AJ Styles (C) Vs Ricochet – United States Championship

I think this will be the match of the night, Toronto crowds appreciate good wrestling and AJ and Ricochet deliver good wrestling every match. I think AJ Styles as a heel back with Anderson and Gallows just works, I enjoyed him as a face but it felt like it’d overstayed it’s welcome.

Ricochet has been the best NXT callup in a while, WWE are booking him correctly, he’s an upper mid carder and he’s being able to showoff his high-flying ability each and every week. As I previously mentioned, I could see Rollins beating Lesnar, therefore he needs some challengers, enter the US Champion AJ Styles, and the next PPV is Clash of The Champions, so let’s say AJ retains on Sunday and then challenges Seth to a champion Vs champion match. Winne: Still Champion – AJ Styles

Adam Predicts: Kevin Owens Vs. Shane McMahon (If Owens loses, he quits WWE)

Why, oh why do we still need to have Shane McMahon shoved down our throats in what feels like one father’s mission to get millions & millions of people to like his son? As a wrestler, Shane is a spot monkey. Yes, he’s pulled off a few memorable matches but this is where it needs to end.

Only one career will be coming to an end on Sunday and that will be Shane’s at the hands of Kevin Owens. Goodbye billionaire boy. Call it a day. Winner – Kevin Owens

Callum Predicts: Dolph Ziggler Vs Goldberg

So, I don’t care about this match, I like Dolph and I’ve always liked him, but it’s clearly obvious that Goldberg will squash him in a few minutes. Personally when this rivalry began, where Dolph called out Goldberg and Shawn Michaels for their Saudi Arabia performances, I hoped we’d see HBK Vs Dolph which is something I’d be more invested in.

However this is what will happen, Goldberg spears Ziggler, then a Jackhammer 1,2,3 match over. Winner – Goldberg

Adam Predicts: Trish Stratus Vs. Charlotte

I feel I’m going to echo Callum’s comments on the Ziggler/Goldberg match here. I have no interest in this match at all. I would have much sooner had Charlotte as Smackdown Women’s Champion, defending against Ember Moon and have Bayley & Sasha Banks as Women’s Tag Team Champions (still undefeated) defending against Trish Stratus and Lita.

Charlotte doesn’t need this match, Trish doesn’t need to come back for it. Just why? Winner – Charlotte

Callum Predicts: Possible Roman Reigns Match

As of writing, Roman Reigns doesn’t have a match at Sunday’s PPV, but I anticipate something will get announced on social media. And after Smackdown, it seems that he’ll be feuding with Daniel Bryan and Rowan, so perhaps we’ll see him have a tag match, but who will be his partner?

My guess is that it’ll be Samoa Joe, it seems that Joe is becoming a face after helping Roman on Raw following the hit and run angle. This result will entirely depend on what the future holds for all 4 men. Personally, I think Reigns needs to be back in the WWE or Universal Title picture sooner rather than later, so for that sake, I reckon Roman and Joe wins (if a match happens), then Roman could feud with Kofi Kingston as Smackdown heads to Fox in October.

Adam Predicts: Finn Balor Vs. ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt

I hope to whoever is up there that Finn brings out the Demon for this one. There is no reason why he wouldn’t/shouldn’t especially if Bray is using his ‘Fiend’ character.

I fully suspect though, that we won’t see the Demon. I’ve seen the reports that Finn is scheduled to take some time off following SummerSlam so I wouldn’t be totally surprised if this is a squash of sorts with Wyatt winning quickly, banishing Balor and continuing his push on Raw. Maybe The Fiend becomes Universal Champion, Finn returns & wins the Rumble and we get The Fiend Vs. The Demon for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemania. Maybe. It’d be good. Winner – Bray Wyatt

Callum Predicts: 24/7 Championship

So obviously there’s no 24/7 title match announced, but I expect we’ll see some backstage segments, again as of writing R-Truth is the champion, however that’ll all likely change on Sunday night, I think it’d be pretty cool if R-Truth and Carmella, The Kanellis and Mavericks have a car chase around Toronto.

Hopefully, it all ends with Renee winning the title by pinning her husband Drake, after she promises to consumate the marriage.

Adam Predicts: Drew Gulak (C) Vs. Oney Lorcan – Cruiserweight Championship

While I am looking forward to this match (we all know the 205 Live guys kill it every time), I’m getting bored of pithy championship matches with no real rhyme or reason as to why they are taking place. Oney Lorcan has done a great job of building this one on social media but besides that and his 6 Pack Challenge win, it seems to be more of an exercise in plucking a new contender from a list of those available rather than a purposeful rivalry between champion and challenger.

I can’t see Oney winning here, simply because I feel his work as a tag team with Danny Burch in NXT has more too it. Also, there are more legs to Drew Gulak’s reign as Champion. Winner: STILL Champion – Drew Gulak
