The Raw Report – 23rd July 2018 (@runner_rope)

Here are the main talking points from last night’s Monday night Raw.

Women’s evolution goes to the next level
It was announced before last night that Stephanie McMahon would be making a history making announcement, and what she said was definitely a huge leap forward in the evolution. McMahon, with the help of her husband Triple H, announced that on October 28th there will be the first ever all-women’s Pay-per-view which will be called WWE Evolution. In her announcement, McMahon said that the event will include female superstars from the past, present and the future, meaning female superstars from NXT will be included. This event will be a celebration of women’s wrestling in the WWE and will be a special night for everyone involved.

Reigns to go beast hunting
The Big Dog Roman Reigns defeated Bobby Lashley in a hard-hitting match to earn the opportunity to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. Everyone sort of knew that Reigns would win this match, what was unexpected was the positive reaction that he got from the fans after the match. I think everyone hopes that Reigns will win the belt at SummerSlam, so the reign of UFC-bound Lesnar will end and Raw will once again have a full-time Universal champion.

Ziggler and Rollins will battle once more
Raw general manager Kurt Angle told Seth Rollins that he will get another opportunity at Dolph Ziggler’s Intercontinental championship at SummerSlam. In the weeks leading up to the Pay-per-view, we could see a stipulation added to this match to give this bout that extra edge. I get the feeling that we could see the return of Dean Ambrose during or after this match at SummerSlam and he will have a big say in the outcome of this intercontinental championship contest.

Heel turn for Hardy & Wyatt?
The Deleter’s of Worlds Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt got their rematch for the Raw tag-team championships against Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel, and it didn’t go as planned. A miscommunication between the two and a stroke of luck for Axel and they were defeated once again. In the fallout, Hardy and Wyatt looked to be congratulating the victors, but they attacked The B team unprovoked, looking like sore losers. I think this is the fresh start that the pair needed, and heel run for them could be very intriguing.

 A fascinating opportunity for Owens
Kevin Owens resurfaced on Raw last night for the first time since he was thrown of the tope of a steel cage at Extreme Rules by Braun Strowman, and he was not happy with the monster among men’s actions in their match. Seeing as Owens did technically win the match at the pay-per-view, Stephanie McMahon awarded Owens a rematch at SummerSlam with Strowman’s Money in the bank briefcase on the line. This will be an interesting story heading into SummerSlam and this match could have huge implications in the Universal title picture.
