The Voice of Reason: Fast Lane Preview

A lot of people think WWE Fast Lane is a forgone conclusion. A mandatory PPV which is predictable enough if you know which WrestleMania matches are likely to take place. It is this expectation WWE should look to exploit, and throw as many curve balls as possible before heading into the biggest Mania of all time.

The Main Event

Let’s start with the most important and most talked about match on the card, the main event. Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar. Most people believe it’s a forgone conclusion that Roman Reigns is walking out the winner and will eventually face Triple H and Mania. Logic dictates this be the case as the Triple H vs. Roman Reigns feud never had a real ending.

While I agree, Roman will most likely go on to face Triple H, I honestly hope Dean Ambrose is the man to do so. Ambrose has recently been given some rope, the smallest amount, to make an impression on Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman, and my oh my has Ambrose delivered. In a short space of time, Ambrose has proved he is the one to watch, and that he has been under-utilised for so long now. This could very well build to Ambrose vs. Triple H at Mania, leading to a classic match.

Diva’s Feud

I’m not exactly sure as to why Brie Bella has a title match. Clearly the match everyone wants to see features Sasha Banks instead of Brie Bella. Maybe WWE are trying to capitalise on Daniel Bryan but that’s not always the right thing to do. Hopefully this is just a filler match to Mania to set up Banks vs. Flair where Banks may end up getting her moment.

Surprise Returns

Could there be a curve ball in the shape of a surprise return? It’s been known to happen especially around WrestleMania season. I don’t think we will see major returns however, the most likely being The Undertaker if there is a big name. Will be pick out his Mania opponent?

We could potentially see a couple of people from NXT feature and make their main roster appearance. I think of Balor and Samoa Joe of course. This depends on them featuring in Mania, which I think they should. Could we potentially see Balor interrupt someone only to get interrupted by The Undertaker? – said in hope more than anything else!

Let’s hope for the standard booking is tossed out the window this week and something special gets us excited for WrestleMania. Most important I believe is the commentary this weekend. We can’t have slip ups and we don’t want to just hear conversations about the main event for the whole night. Please Michael Cole, JBL?

Have a good weekend all.
