The Voice of Reason: Reigns Supreme

Last week I discussed three big points that I was hoping for from TLC this past Sunday, the first of which was a heel turn from Roman Reigns. I felt it was long overdue and if the fans are not getting behind him in their entirety, then he may as well be a heel. Most importantly, I wanted them to show that Roman Reigns is not like John Cena and I felt the only way to do that is by a heel turn. Well, WWE proved me wrong.

The showing by Reigns after losing the TLC match against Sheamus for the WWE World Heavyweight title was not only spectacular for Roman Reigns himself, but exactly what WWE needed. They needed a brand new asskicker, to fight against The Authority like Stone Cold used to. They needed to go to the extreme and oh boy did they do that.

The beating Sheamus took after the match was great enough, and the crowd loved seeing Sheamus get his ass kicked, because yes, he does look stupid. But for Triple H to then come out and receive a beating we haven’t seen in the WWE since Brock Lesnar’s absence, was unparalleled. Reigns tried to powerbomb the COO of WWE through the announce table, which at first did not break. Nevertheless, this added to the drama when Reigns decided to drop the elbow eventually breaking the table. Again, this was great enough, and now Roman is on his way out the arena. The crowd where thunderous and chanting ‘Thank You Roman’ – something we didn’t think we would hear for a long time. The spear I thought was the aspect that took this to a new level. To run from that far and deliver it perfectly really just showed what Reigns is capable of.

After a phenomenal night, Reigns is on Raw, in the same very location he was booed out of in the Royal Rumble. But this time there were no boo’s. Only thank you Roman chants. For Reigns to come back to Philadelphia, win the WWEWHC in emphatic fashion and get cheered out of the arena was pure magic. The crowd where so behind him that we even got Yes chants when it looked like Reigns was about to win.

It may be early to say, but it seems like WWE’s persistence has paid off, and they pulled the trigger on Roman Reigns snapping and becoming a complete ass kicker at the perfect time. For all the doubt I may have written on here before, WWE showed they can still do it better and still produce special television.

Hoping to see this continue, and if Roman is booked the same as the last TLC and Raw, I am very excited to see what the future has for him. Feel free to comment below and see you guys next week!
