#TheWrestlingBrain: Predicts #WWEPayback (@callumowen98)

Well it’s another Sunday night and we’re only one week removed from Summerslam, but I’m here once again for more predictions, hello everyone it’s me TWB, and today I’m here to give my thoughts and picks for the Payback PPV, we have a 6 matches to look forward to, so let’s get going with our first bout.

Matt Riddle Vs King Corbin

This is the match that seems the easiest to predict on the whole Payback card, you have Matt Riddle who’s only been on Smackdown for a few months taking on King Corbin who really is in a mid-card heel role right now, to where even though he’s on TV most weeks and involved in a feud, he’s usually on the losing end of it. For the past few weeks, we’ve seen a King’s Ransom be put on ‘The Original Bro’ which has been taken up by Shorty G, however, he was unsuccessful in his attempt on Friday night, and finally now on Sunday, we’ll get to see how Corbin fares against Riddle.

I think this ought to only go a couple of minutes, Riddle absolutely destroys Corbin, firstly ending this feud but also maybe moving him towards the IC Title picture.
Winner – Matt Riddle

Apollo Crews (C) Vs Bobby Lashley – United States Championship Match

Similar to the last match, this one feels like it’s easy to call, although I wouldn’t be shocked if we see a surprise finish. Apollo Crews has been making his way through defeating members of The Hurt Business, however, the toughest is still to come in the form of Bobby Lashley, who injured Crews a few months ago, following locking in the Full Nelson submission, which if that happens on Sunday we very well could see a new US Champion.

The leader of The Hurt Business MVP has been trying to recruit some of Apollo’s friends in the recent weeks, by approaching Cedric Alexander, however, I think it could be Ricochet that we see turn and align himself with MVP and co. I think there’ll be a ref bump during the match, which allows MVP and Benjamin to attack Crews, then the cavalry comes on down in the shape of Cedric and Ricochet, but instead of helping Apollo, Ricochet can hit him with the US Title belt which gives Lashley the win. Post-match The Hurt Business with their new recruit stand tall.
Winner (New US Champion) – Bobby Lashley

Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio Vs Seth Rollins and Murphy

This is a rematch from Monday Night Raw which saw the Mysterio’s be attacked by Retribution to close the night, so there’s a good chance we could see the faction interfere in this one again, however, if we don’t, I think that Rey and Dominik need a win.

As I said in my Summerslam predictions just last week, the Raw Tag division needs to be freshened up either of these two teams being Tag champions would solve the issue, personally I’d prefer Rey and Dominik go after the titles, hopefully whenever Andrade and Garza get them from the Street Profits. Therefore I’m going with a Mysterio’s victory, with Dom pinning Murphy

As for ‘The Monday Night Messiah’ and Murphy, I could see them feuding with the newest member of the Raw roster Keith Lee.
Winners – Rey and Dominik Mysterio

Keith Lee Vs Randy Orton

What a weird week Keith Lee has had, last Saturday he lost his NXT Championship to Karrion Kross, then on Sunday at SummerSlam, it was announced that he was going to make his Raw debut, on Raw he arrived with new music and new ring gear that caused a bit of uproar on social media, with everyone seemingly saying that he’d already been buried, look when you make your Raw debut against one of the biggest names in WWE history, I think that’s a good sign that he’ll be fine. Not wishing to sound like Triple H in some of his NXT press conferences let’s give it some time if we get to Wrestlemania and he’s in a pre-show Battle Royal getting eliminated by some jobber then we can say he’s been buried.

I don’t think Lee necessarily has to win this match either to look good, they can have a back and forth 20-25 minute match, where Orton tries everything to put Lee away, but he can’t so in frustration Orton grabs a steel chair gets himself DQ’d he can then line up for a punt, then out of nowhere Drew McIntyre appears to Claymore Randy, McIntyre and Lee can then stand tall with the WWE Champion raising the hand of ‘The Limitless One’
Winner by DQ – Keith Lee

Bayley and Sasha Banks (C) Vs Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match

It seems like time is running out for the Golden Role Models as Tag Team champions but also as best friends, however, I’m not quite sure whether they should drop the titles to a makeshift team of Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.

The odd couple tag team is a troup in WWE, and the latest one is Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, the two have been feuding for a few months now but all of a sudden they’re now challenging for the Tag belts, the problem is if they win on Sunday there’s no one Asuka can feud with, so I think Nia and Shayna should brawl during the match, and Shayna walks out leaving Jax to take the pin.

As for Bayley and Banks they retain, but then at Clash of Champions, Bayley Dos Straps has to defend both of her titles and she decides to take a breather in her tag match with Sasha, and they lose, making it Sasha no belts. Infuriated with her partner Banks turns on her, setting up Sasha Vs Bayley main event of Hell In A Cell for the Smackdown Women Championship.
Winners (Still Women’s Tag Team Champions) – The Golden Role Models

The Fiend Bray Wyatt (C) Vs Braun Strowman Vs Roman Reigns – No Holds Barred Match for the Universal Championship

Finally, a Universal Championship Match to be invested in, the return of Roman Reigns got me off my bed last week at Summerslam, and then he be aligned with Paul Heyman as we saw on Smackdown is something I’ve been wanting for the best part of 5 years. I’m going to keep my prediction pretty short and sweet, Roman has to win, this is the most excited I’ve been in Roman Reigns for a while, and I’m sure almost everyone is in the same position as me with him, so there’s no doubt in my mind that you put the title on the ‘Big Dog’ and make him the top star once again.
Winner (New Universal Champion) – Roman Reigns
