#TheWrestlingBrain: This Is NXT Monthly – September (@callumowen98)

Hello and welcome back to This Is NXT Monthly, I am TWB and I’m here giving you my thoughts on the last month of NXT action.

Who attacked Aleister Black
?

Who done it? The saga has continued with NXT superstars giving their alibi’s to GM William Regal, with twists and turns along the way, the culprit is yet to be revealed. However, the top suspects are NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano and Lars Sullivan. Although with the whole NXT roster under suspicion, it could literally be anyone.

It’ll be intriguing where this storyline goes, as nobody knows how long Black will be out for, but I’m a sucker for these sort of stories. Just as long as it doesn’t follow the same suit as “Who Shot Mr Burns” and it’s revealed that Maggie Simpson attacked Aleister Black.

Johnny Failure

It seems that Johnny Gargano’s time in NXT could be coming to an end. Two weeks ago, the former beloved babyface now turned seemingly to a tweener in the eyes of the NXT audience, lost a match to The Velveteen Dream and the closing shot of the episode was Gargano walking away and looking back at the Full Sail crowd, for perhaps the final time.

Gargano is a suspect in the Aleister Black storyline, so there’s a chance that he’ll be the attacker, however, instead, I’m guessing he’ll move to the main roster soon. As Shinsuke Nakamura or even Randy Orton needs a new face to feud with, and I could not think of a better underdog babyface in Johnny Gargano.

Dunne and Ricochet steal the show, but NXT is still Undisputed

On Wednesday night’s episode of NXT, we had a match between the North American Champion Ricochet and UK Champion Pete Dunne with both men’s titles up for grabs, and we were treated to an instant classic. It was Takeover main event worthy and in my opinion, one of the best NXT TV matches ever. We saw a double DQ finish as Undisputed Era did a run-in and attacked both men, until War Raiders sent Cole, O’Reilly and Strong running to the back.

This has all signs to a match between Undisputed Era vs War Raiders and Ricochet vs British Strong Style inside WarGames at the NXT Takeover over Survivor Series weekend with potentially the UK, North American and Tag Titles on the line.

Will they be forgotten
?

We have a new faction in NXT, and their name is the Forgotten Sons. the team consisting of former TNA wrestler Gunner (now known as Jaxson Ryder) former NXT Tag Team Champion Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler, they had a dominating win in their debut match as Blake and Cutler defeated The Street Profits.

Then on Wednesday night’s episode, Ryder made his in-ring singles debut as he convincingly beat Humberto Carrillo. I’m interested what will happen over the next few months, as other tag teams on NXT are already locked in feuds, so my idea would be for them to jump whoever the winners are in my proposed WarGames match, to really put themselves over as a threat on the NXT roster.

Kassius Oh-Bro

After defeating Kona Reeves, Kassius Ohno sent a chilling warning to any new signings to NXT, that he will be ready for them. In a segment with William Regal, Ohno said “When your shiny new toy gets here, you let me know and I’ll take care of him. Bro!” This practically implies that sometime on the horizon we will see Ohno take on NXT newest recruit Matt Riddle.

I would assume they will clash at NXT Takeover: WarGames, with Riddle likely winning, however, it’s good to see an in-ring veteran in Ohno being used as he’s been an afterthought since re-signing with NXT back in 2016 and his experience is worthwhile on a brand, that is meant to develop the next crop of stars in WWE.
