Hello everybody, it’s me TWB, and firstly I hope everyone is doing well during this troubling time. I think during a period of unrest and uncertainty, we all need to have escapism, and my escapism comes from writing wrestling articles and watching some WWE, so that’s exactly what I’m doing right now.
This weekend we have a Wrestlemania, which will obviously look and feel completely different to the ones that we’re used to, and although my expectations and excitement aren’t at an all-time high, I will just be grateful for two nights of entertainment. So let’s run through the card. I will give my quick picks for the undercard bouts but go more in-depth for the marquee matches.
(Note: Roman Reigns has announced that he won’t be competing at Wrestlemania. However, WWE hasn’t confirmed who Goldberg will face at the time of writing, so I’ll just make a prediction on his opponent and the result)

Marquee Matches
Rhea Ripley Vs Charlotte Flair
(Women’s Championship Match)
This match, in my opinion, is the one most affected by the shift in programming in the last few weeks as it really hasn’t had much of a build. Charlotte won the women’s Royal Rumble, stalled for a few weeks on who she was going to challenge at Mania, then finally choose Ripley at NXT Takeover Portland, which feels like a lifetime ago now, and really there’s only been a few promo’s and altercations between the two leading into this match.
I think Ripley is the safe bet here to retain, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Charlotte were to win, she has done everything possible on the main roster, in under 4 years, she’s feuded with Rousey, Lynch, Sasha and Bayley, and has multiple title reigns under her belt. What if she wins at the weekend, and goes to NXT for a few months?
There’s much more potential now in seeing a big name who’s been on the main roster to head to NXT for a bit and raise the stock of everyone on that roster and in my opinion that is the best route to go with.

Goldberg Vs ?
(Universal Championship Match)
On Monday, Roman Reigns announced that he wouldn’t be competing at Wrestlemania. This is perfectly understandable, the leukaemia that Roman battled in 2018 and 2019 has been well documented, and the possibility of him catching the virus would be too much of a risk to his and his family’s health.
Therefore, we are left without an announced opponent for Goldberg’s Universal Championship, I believe we’ll see him take on Braun Strowman.
As unpopular this maybe I’d have Goldberg retain, Strowman has lost a lot of value really since losing to Brock Lesnar at No Mercy in 2017, and I don’t think him as Universal Champion makes a lot of sense, nor does Goldberg mind you. That being said, I feel Goldberg Vs Reigns is still the big money match, so fingers crossed everything is okay by Summerslam, that’s where I’d have Roman defeat

Kevin Owens Vs Seth Rollins
This has probably been one of the best rivalries leading up to Wrestlemania. B
Becky Lynch Vs Shayna Baszler
(Raw Women’s Championship Match)
If you asked me a few months back, will Shayna Baszler defeat Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania I would’ve said yes. However, after a few weeks and with the whole build I could see Lynch retaining, and bringing her reign as Raw Women’s Champion to a year.
For some reason and it might be due to the lack of crowd which obviously isn’t Lynch or Baszler’s fault, Shayna just doesn’t seem ready to beat Becky, perhaps Lynch counters the

John Cena Vs Fiend
(Firefly Funhouse Match)
The Fiend desperately needs to win this one, he was squashed by Goldberg at Super Showdown, and if he has any remaining momentum and popularity he must beat John Cena. As much of a fan I am of Cena, there’s no need for him to win, due to his future movie commitments, we have no idea when he’ll be back inside the WWE ring after Mania, so the best result possible here is for The Fiend to win in fairly dominant fashion.

AJ Styles Vs Undertaker
(Boneyard Match)
Much like the previous match, there’s no need for The Undertaker to win this one, he only wrestles sporadically and now his Wrestlemania streak has gone, there’s not many stakes going into this one.
Although I am intrigued what a Boneyard Match will look like, I assume it’ll be like a Buried Alive match. This will be AJ Styles 5th Wrestlemania match, in his previous 4 he’s faced off against Jericho, McMahon, Nakamura and Orton. This one is no doubt his biggest, and potentially the biggest match in his career, against one of the most recognised names in wrestling history. I think Styles should win.

Edge Vs Randy Orton
(Last Man Standing Match)
This is by far the match I’m most looking forward to this weekend, for over two months I have been waiting to see Edge get his revenge on Orton, and honestly it has been one of the best storylines in recent memory in WWE.
The return of Edge still gives me goosebumps now, and knowing we’re only a few days away from seeing his first singles match in 9 years is exciting. This whole feud has been excellent, the promo’s from both men, in particular, Edge has been amazing, and with the Last Man Standing stipulation we’re going to see some real brutality.
I think the result is obvious, Edge will defeat Orton, who knows what The Rated R Superstar will do next, but whatever it is, I’m just very happy that he’s back and doing what he does best.

Brock Lesnar Vs Drew McIntyre
(WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match)
This is the toughest match to call, on one hand, you have Drew McIntyre someone who easily could be the next biggest star in the whole of WWE, and then you have Brock Lesnar who seems to win when you least expect it.
I think if this match was taking place still inside the Raymond James Stadium, Drew would’ve won, but I just have a nagging feeling that Lesnar retains, and maybe they can have a rematch down the line where there’s a crowd to see McIntyre dethrone The Beast.
However, I believe there’s a no better time than the present, and there’s obviously going to be fans across the world watching this show, and imagine seeing Brock Lesnar be out-powered, outmanoeuvred, out-wrestled and defeated by Drew McIntyre. No matter what the reaction is inside the Performance Centre, the reaction across the world, I think will be one of excitement, joy and elation, as a new star and a new champion
This match should close Wrestlemania, a show which will be remembered perhaps for the wrong reasons at least on a high.
