#TheWrestlingGuild: IMPACT Slammiversary 2019 Predictions (@Stoughe)

TJP Open X-Division Challenge
Impact has a great chance to do something fun with this match. It is difficult to make any real predictions of the outcome without knowing who the challenger is. So instead it is easier to give a few scenarios that might come about. I don’t think anyone can argue that the addition of TJ Perkins to the impact roster is not a blessing.

His two matches against Ace Austin in the past weeks have shown everyone how much he has grown since he was Manik/Suicide in TNA. Say what you will about WWE, but the wrestlers develope a great deal while there. That being said it is obvious that the challenger has to be someone who can match up with Perkins.

Scenario 1: Someone from the roster accepts the invitation. This is the most boring alternative, and is usually one that Impact goes with. In that case it is most likely Petey Williams, Ace Austin or Dave Crist. They could spice it up and use someone who is sporadically on the roster and that would open up for Laredo Kid or maybe even Fenix.

Scenario 2:  Here one might use someone from Impact’s past. This might get more interesting if they bring in a wrestler like Chris Sabin, Jerry Lynn (not very likely) or someone from outside the country like Sanada or Tigre Uno, both recently featured on Impact. This gives us endless options and would likely create a big pop.

Scenario 3: This would be eiter a former WWE wrestler, someone from 205 Live, or an AEW competitor. This is less likely even though Don Callis is good friends with both Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. This would get the most publicity of the night and would also create various interesting angles or options.

Scenario 4: Just like Scenario 1 this is a dud scenario. They bring out either Grado, Kikutaro or Mahabali Shera. Not because they arn’t entertaining, it just wouldn’t be that exciting.

Moose vs RVD
There are many interesting things about a match between RVD and Moose. The match could really cement Moose as a top tier player and launch him into the main event, where he belongs. Impact needs to play their cards right here though. RVD’s last run was basically a series of wins over various opponents and also a spell with the Heavyweight Championship, which he never lost.

RVD is a crowd favourite and it would be easy to give him this win, but he doesn’t need it. Moose does. He’s been floundering ever since Austin Aries left and he is in desperate need of a strong showing. The match between the two will most likely be awesome, but Moose needs to come out on top.
Winner: Moose

First Blood Match: Killer Kross vs Eddie Edwards
This match has got me really excited. A first blood match of course guarantees colour. The feud between Kross and Edwards has been slow and methodical. Kross has been allowed to play his entire repertoire of acting and it has propelled the feud past what seemed to be just a repeat of last years Callihan/Edwards fight.

It also shows us that Impact needs Kross on the roster. His brand of insanity and brooding gives the show an edge over the competition and they can’t afford to lose him. That being said, it is difficult to predict who might come out on top here. Edwards should if one was to follow the natural story arch, but if they want to keep Kross as the killer he is, then he should win. To keep Kross on the roster, there can be only one outcome.
Winner: Killer Kross

Sami Callihan Vs Tessa Blanchard
If Kross shows us that he is a utility player, then Callihan is the MVP. Every single feud he embarks on is the feud of the year and even though Tessa is one of the best wrestlers today this match can only springboard her to greatness. Callihan is ruthless and brutal and he is not afraid to hold back.

Tessa can take it and reciprocate in kind. There is a natural aversion to male on female violence and even though Tessa is tougher than most one always cringes when Sami shoves that bat into her gut. Sami can take the loss here, but Tessa needs it to show the world what she is capable of.
Winner: Tessa Blanchard

IMPACT Tag Team Championship: Rascalz vs LAX vs The North
Impact wrestling did something very interesting here. Having advertised that the Rascalz were going to face LAX at Slammiversary no one assumed that the North was going to grab the titles at Bash at the Brewery. I have always found it idiotic to have a title match before a pay per view where the champions are facing another opponent, the outcome is predictable. In this case, it wasn’t.

What the motives were for placing the belts on The North we might never know, maybe this means that LAX are on their way out of the company, but that would be a huge loss for Impact, or maybe it’s a swerve and LAX retain the belts here. This promises to be a show stealer of a match. These three teams are all great, they are hard hitting and fast paced and they seem to gel very well. I believe we might see some amazing feats here. Had the titles not shifted I would have said The Rascalz as the winners, but now I think the outcome might be different. Winners: LAX

Four Way Monster’s Ball for the Knockouts Title: Taya Valkyrie vs Havok vs Rosemary vs Su Yung
I have high expectations from this match. In recent years the Monster’s ball has been quite disappointing. There has been a lack of blood and ultra-violence and has been a far cry from what Raven envisioned all those years ago.

With Rosemary, Havok and Su Yung in the mix, this might be a completely different story. As seen on Impact this past Friday Rosemary is not afraid of barbed wire or thumbtacks and I hope those things will show themselves again this Sunday. It is no secret that I am past Taya as a champion, and the belt needs to move on, but I think she will come out on top anyway, hiding herslef and letting the others beat each other to a bloody pulp and then let someone else step in and take the belt in a one on one match.
Winner: Taya Valkyrie

IMPACT X-Division Championship: Rich Swann vs Johnny Impact

This is a difficult one to predict. There are various factors that play in, especially where the loser goes next. Johnny Impact has basically jumped from one championship feud to another and if he is beat by Swann he can’t go back to the Heavyweight championship, because that line is very long right now. If Swann loses here he has nothing on the horizon, unless there is a rift between him and Willie Mack, which they have teased, and they have a program together.

It is easier to see Swann take this and then go on to defend against TJP. They have a past in WWE, having been finalistst in the Cruiserweight Classic and with there new found attitudes could really get something going. There will always be something for Johnny Impact, event though the face roster is quite thin. Storyline wise it has to be Rich Swann. Winner: Rich Swann

IMPACT Heavyweight Championship: Brian Cage vs Michael Elgin
This is the match we have wanted to see since Rebellion. Elgin has been stealing the show every night he has wrestled and he has elevated those he has faced. Brian Cage will most likely win this match, not only because it is his first title defence, but because he is coming back from injury. It is a bit of a comeback kid story.

I believe this match is just what Cage needs to cement him as the face of Impact Wrestling. Elgin is a formidable foe, who can easily move to another violent feud with credibility. I am not looking at this as a match where I am excited about the outcome, I am excited about the brutally and hard-hitting Canadian strong style we will see. I hope Cage is one hundred per cent so we can see them pull off something fantastic. Winner: Brian Cage
