Wrestling World: The WWE Cruiserweight Division

Today, I’m going talk about three superstars that are in the WWE’s cruiserweight division!

KOTA IBUSHI

Kota Ibushi

Ibushi was the standout for me in the Cruiserweight Classic a few months ago, destroying absolutely everyone in the tournament in concession. Kota got eliminated by TJ Perkins, who won the CWC in the end.

Kota was apparently offered many full-time contracts with the WWE, but Kota didn’t want to sign full time, which upset me a little bit as he was my favourite to win and eventually become champion in Raw’s Cruiserweight Division.

Kota did come back for a short tag-team run with T.J. Perkins (which was meant to be Itami before he got hurt at an NXT live event in Florida) for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, which they lost.

Kota should sign a deal with the WWE before he retires from pro-wrestling as he could accomplish so much under the WWE umbrella, cough * Ibushi vs Nakamura * cough.

T.J. PERKINS

TJP did make a name for himself in other promotions; in TNA, he was named Suicide under a mask, then Manik and then left the promotion soon after. He worked in many independent promotions like Evolve to earn him a shot at the CWC, and he eventually won the whole tournament, thus becoming the reincarnated WWE Cruiserweight Champion, becoming a part of WWE’s cruiserweight division on Raw the following week.

The only thing wrong with TJP is that his current WWE persona is growing a bit stale as it’s a simple character with not too many layers, and TJ not being given any interesting dialogue to act out on TV.

CEDRIC ALEXANDER

Cedric is the most intriguing part of Raw’s cruiserweight division, he was a little fish in a gigantic ocean, but then his match with Ibushi put Cedric on the WWE map with fans chanting “Please Sign Cedric” and they got their wish.

He was picked up immediately  after Raw started the cruiserweight division and he has been alright in the WWE, but there is some flaws with Cedric not being in high profile matches like he should be, as his work alone should have earned everyone’s respect by now.

Vince needs to put him in the title picture to see where he goes from there as he has a lot of talent in him, too much for it to go to waste in 6-man tag team matches or love angles with Alicia Fox.

Thanks for reading this piece, I hope you liked it and I will write again next week, CIAO!
