Raw Revisited 23rd June: The Bo Home Show

Not much to say about Raw this week, it wasn’t much for the most part, with a few bright spots as always. Lets get down to it..

Vickie Guererro: The Ultimate Trooper!

People have hated Vickie Guerrero (in kayfabe, for the most part) since she became the screamy “Excuse me” person she did all those years ago. Since then, she has done every depraved, degrading, disgusting and awful thing that has been asked of her. She has been a real trooper, never complained and always took her lumps and left with a smile on her face. She came in at a time when her husband had passed away and she was left a bit directionless in life, as most people would be in that position. So WWE extended an olive branch to her to give her a chance to continue the Guerrero legacy in one way or another.

Whether the legacy of Guerrero is tarnished somewhat or not, is another debate for another day. What I do know is that Vickie Guerrero is a good person who was good at her job (making people hate her) and got to go out on her terms (for the most part). I wish her the best of luck in everything she does from now on, and thank her for putting up with all the crap she did over the years.

#ThankYouVickie – get it trending, and keep it trending.

Dat Music Tho

Luke Harper continued to impress in what was essentially a squash of “The Uso who’s not on Total Diva’s”. This was followed by the one who is on Total Diva’s beating the less impressive member of the Wyatt’s in Erick Rowan. Not much to say here apart from that Luke Harper is a beast with some seriously physics defying agility.

Architects And Oldies

Triple H was out before this match to announce the “6” participants in the contract ladder match for Money in the Bank. The participants announced were:

  • Kofi Kingston
  • Jack Swagger
  • Rob Van Dam
  • Dolph Ziggler
  • Bad News Barrett

And of course, Seth Rollins. 6 is an odd number since (up until tonight) there are 7 participants in the championship ladder match, but that and another glaring omission would be rectified post-match.

The match itself could have gone longer, but it was good for the most part. Rob Van Dam is still stuck in his 2001 style and refuses to adapt to new opponents, but every now and then, someone can bring him, kicking and screaming out of his comfort zone and into a good match. Tonight was one of those nights. I’d like to see more of this, and I’m sure we will as time goes on and Seth Rollins star continues to shine brighter and brighter.

The match ended when Dean Ambrose interrupted after Rollins hit a nasty looking curb stomp on RVD. He then proceeded to go insane on the mic and it was glorious. He threatened to ruin the “whole damn pay per view” if he didn’t get put in the match and Rollins, being the “architect”, decided it was best to have Ambrose in the match so that he could know where he was at all times. Smart thinking, and good for us!

WRESTLING!!!

Guys, this match was all kinds of great. 2 men fighting their ASSES off for a prestigious belt that has been held by 12 hall of famers over the years. The way things should be. Take away the belt, that’s still the way it should be. There were so many near falls, almost finishes, and great spots in this match, if Sunday weren’t Money in the Bank, then I would have hoped it would be saved for the PPV.

I honestly thought that Ziggler was going to win it since the popular opinion is that BNB is winning the contract on Sunday and him holding the IC belt at the same time wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense, but alas it was not meant to be. At least not tonight.

Smackdown 2: Electric Bugaloo

There is a disturbing trend the past year or two where WWE thinks that nobody watches Smackdown and feel the need to replay the same matches minute for minute on Raw and while this 4 on 3 match wasn’t exactly the same as it’s Smackdown counterpart, the result was the same. The match was good, and Reigns was super over with the crowd when he got the hot tag. It was a great way to get hype going for the championship ladder match on Sunday.

And now, a note on Kane.

Kane is at the tail end of his career and is not in the best shape of his life. He has a bit to offer WWE, but it is NOT in a championship match of any description. Putting him in this match that already has 7(!) people in it makes no sense. If the story is that they are worried about Reigns winning, you already have Orton in there, and 5 other guys who want the gold, so he’s not that much of a threat. What this seems like, is that Kane wasn’t on the card, so they stuck him in the match even though there is no way in hell (pun intended) he is winning the match or the title.
