*ALL NEW* #MouthingOff with MikeJC: Dynamite Weekly. Wednesday January 27th #AEWDynamite Ep.69 (@MikeJC821)

Welcome, everyone to the latest edition of #MouthingOff (with MikeJC): Dynamite Weekly, the weekly review feature on AEW Dynamite here on SLTDWrestling.com. I will be giving my thoughts and opinions on all the highlights of the show as well as giving the “Remarkable Wrestler” of the week. So here are the highlights of the Wednesday, January 27th edition of AEW Dynamite.

Eddie Kingston vs. Lance Archer

Dynamite opened with a really good match between two guys who needed the spotlight. Kingston especially needed a win here and he got a big win here to get him moving forward. This was a hard hitting match, with a lot of back and forth that ended with interference which protects Archer from looking bad for losing. The finish comes when it looks like Archer has the upper hand and hits the claw slam, and when he goes to capitalize, The Butcher and The Blade, come out with a beaten Jake Roberts, who Archer told to go backstage during the match. This distracts Archer and give The Bunny the chance to give Kingston a loaded slug and he gives Archer a loaded backfist for the pin and the win.

Post match, we see The Butcher and The Blade hit a Neckbreaker & Powerbomb combo on Archer and Kingston hit another backfist to end the segment.

Segment Rating: 5.75/10

As I mentioned I enjoyed this match, the right person won and it didn’t hurt Archer either. Judging by the way it ended, this isn’t over and that’s fine but I don’t think it should be dragged out to Revolution which is six weeks away. It definitely doesn’t need to go that long at all.

Sting and Darby are Hoodlums/Team Taz Answers

So for some reason Sting and Darby are in an abandoned warehouse, Sting says he doesn’t appreciate Taz calling him and Darby hoodlums. He says it doesn’t matter if its in the streets, if it’s clean or dirty it’s about survival. Then he admits, that Darby is a hoodlum, Darby proceeds to throw his skateboard through a window, then Darby says he’s no different than Sting. Sting hits a bunch of windows with his bat and says he is also a hoodlum.

Later on in the night, Team Taz is seen outside, and Taz addresses the match at Revolution. Then in the background we Hook talking to a merch guy wondering why they have Sting and Darby merch but no Team Taz merch. They beat up a couple merch guys, Starks puts one of them through a table, and Cage lawn darts one of them into a production truck like Kevin Nash did to Rey Mysterio in 1996.

Segment Rating: 4/10

I don’t know what Sting was talking about. It felt like he was trying to cut an 80s promo where he says something and throws it to his partner of re emphasis’ the exact same promo. It was hilarious, and not good. Taz didn’t add anything later in the night either and his guys just beat up random people for no reason, helped nobody.

Inner Circle (Chris Jericho & MJF) vs. Varsity Blondes

MJF gets on the mic before the match and says that he needs to talk to Sammy Guevara after the match and then directs his attention to Griff Garrison, talking about how the last time they met on Dynamite he beat him, which leads to Garrison punching MJF, followed by repeated rights and lefts.

The one thing that this match had going for it was it wasn’t like last week with mistimed spots, and Jericho looking tired in the ring. Jericho seemed determined to make up for his bad showing last week. I really like the Varsity Blondes as a team and I really hope, that when they are able to they evolve into a great team down the line, since Brian Pillman Jr. is currently under contract somewhere else. The finish of the match saw Pillman going for a springboard flying clothesline, but Jericho hit a Judas Effect, followed by a Lionsault, which you know was Jericho trying to make up for the one he badly hit last week.

Post match saw all of the Inner Circle do their usual pose, flipping off the camera, and MJF and Sammy staring at each other.

Later in the night MJF brings a camera man to talk to Sammy. MJF says he didn’t tell Wardlow to get involved in the match last week, and that he will be docking his pay for that and it won’t ever happen again. Sammy says he sees what MJF is doing and doesn’t believe a word he says and he may have the others fooled but not him. MJF askes if he’s sure he wants to play it this way, and Sammy responds “I’m not playing”, to end the segment.

Segment Rating: 5.5/10

I enjoyed this match for what it was and as I mentioned Jericho looked like he was on a mission to make up for his performance from last week and I think he did that. I’ve been saying for weeks that this is leading to some kind of split between the Inner Circle members, honestly I’m surprised Santana and Ortiz aren’t as mad as Sammy, but I think it’s going to lead to something where Jericho has to pick sides, so we’ll see how that goes I guess.

Cody Answers Shaq

Earlier in the night Shaq called out Cody and said he’ll fight Cody anytime, anywhere, and proclaims they should do it in March. Tony Schiavone introduces Cody, to give his response. Cody says he’d like to say that at Revolution, He and Brandi would face Shaq and Jade, he’d like to say that but he and his wife are having a baby, so now that is the only thing on his mind. So he asks Arn Anderson for the right thing to do, so Arn goes into this almost 10 minute diatribe to make one point, that Cody should team with Red Velvet instead. He introduces Red Velvet and she says she is tired of being attacked and tired of Jade’s mouth, and she knows Cody will never hit a woman so she’s gonna do it. So this pretty much confirms a mixed tag match at Revolution.

Segment Rating: 3.75/10

This wasn’t good at all. Arn Anderson went on and on just for one point that they need to have a mixed tag match that won’t include Brandi. None of this was necessary at all, the only thing that could have made it worse is if Jade Cargill showed up and had something to say in response because she’s very bad at promos, and I was really hoping that not only would this go away and wouldn’t happen after Brandi announced her pregnancy but I was really hoping to not see Jade again. So we’re getting a mixed tag match that isn’t needed at all, despite the fact that I hate that Cody is having this match at all it should be a singles match between him and Shaq and I don’t understand why it isn’t. I can’t wait for this to go away.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Ryan Nemeth

If you didn’t already know that Page was facing Dolph Ziggler’s brother, he certainly made you realize it by doing pretty much all of Dolph’s moves, and that…was…really…annoying. As well as commentary pointing it out a lot. Matt Hardy shows up midway through the match and starts cheering for Page. Page gets the upper hand later on in the match and hits a Buckshot Lariat for the victory.

Post match, Tony Schiavone wants to know what is going on here. Matt Hardy says he came out here to show support for Page because he sees that he is lost and conflicted and he understands the love he had for The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. Then the Dark Order tried to recruit him and became even more conflicted and he knows he’s been changing in the hall way and he offers to let him use his locker room and that he’s a good person who deserves to be happy.

Segment Rating: 5/10

Okay so this rating is for the match. Ryan Nemeth to get to the point, is not Dolph Ziggler. That was very obvious. Page had to carry him through the match where he did all of his brother’s moves and I don’t think this match needed to happen on this show. Nemeth should be on Dark if he wants to show up out of the blue after not wrestling for like three years, having matches with Danny Limelight (whose also very good but Page is better then this). If not for this whatever of a match the rating would probably be higher because the story after was great. I love this Page being conflicted thing and numerous people trying to recruit him. I wouldn’t be surprised if other groups tried to recruit him to but he eventually does pick the Dark Order which is what should happen, very interested in where that is going.

Dax Harwood vs. Jungle Boy

This is hands down the match of the night. I loved the old school feel of the stipulation, of having Cash and Tully handcuffed to Luchasaurus so they couldn’t interfere. I loved all of Tully’s reactions of wanting to help but not being able to. This match was so good. These two worked really good together and it proved how good Jungle Boy will be as a singles star in the future. Both guys got a good amount of offense in and Dax did a great job of playing up that he might need his groups help but still looking great in the ring because he is that good. The finish came when they were trading near falls and Jungle Boy turned it into the Snare Trap for the submission victory.

Post match, after Luchasaurus removes the handcuffs, Tully throws salt in his eyes. After this FTR double team Jungle Boy, and hit him with a double slingshot suplex, Then Tully goes to the middle rope and assists with a spike piledriver on Luchasaurus. Then they handcuff Luchasaurus to the ropes and cut of the horns on his mask, and they go to cut Jungle Boys hair, but he is saved by SCU and Marko Stunt.

Segment Rating: 7/10

This was my favorite match of the night and it looked like it furthered the star power of Jungle Boy. He is so good and its evident by matches like these. Dax has always been good and we always knew that and he and Jungle Boy put one one hell of a match. This story isn’t over. They made it personal by cutting the horns off of Luchasaurus’ mask and I assume he’ll have a new one next week and they will want revenge for this. I honestly don’t think it will hurt FTR to lose a tag match to these two as they are gonna get come-uppance for this and it would be the right thing to do I think. Very good storytelling within a match and I hope this brings Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus to the next level.

Britt Baker vs. Shanna

This was another example of how good Britt Baker is. Everything she does in the ring is so smooth and there was no doubt who was winning because of the match next week between Britt and Thunder Rosa. Shanna was a good opponent to put over how good Britt has gotten over time and the styles of these two meshed pretty well, especially in the closing moments of the match. Shanna has a bright future in the business and I hope she becomes one of the talents that helps build this division. The finish of this match came after Shanna fired up after reversing the first attempt at the Lockjaw by Britt, she gets a quick near fall, followed by a stunner. Then Shanna hits a running dropkick but when she tries a tiger suplex, Rebel distracts the ref, and Britt capitalizes with the Lockjaw for the submission victory.

Post match, Britt hits some kicks to the head and a Curb Stomp, then locks in the Lockjaw again, but Thunder Rosa makes the save and Britt and Rebel retreat.

Segment Rating: 5.25/10

This was a fine match as I said, and Britt looked really good in victory preparing for next week. Shanna will keep getting wins on Dark down the line and be built up for down the line I think she is surely a future champion but not before Britt who will probably lose to Thunder Rosa and then win that women’s tournament to get a title shot which is what should happen because Britt needs to be the champion she’s that good. I look forward to her match with Thunder Rosa next week that is sure to be a hell of a match.

The Young Bucks & The Good Brothers vs. The Dark Order (Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, Alex Reynolds & John Silver)

Before the match, The Young Bucks and The Good Brothers are talking and the Young Bucks want to make sure everything is cool and it will all go smooth out there. Kenny Omega walks up with Don Callis who is exaggerating his injuries from his interaction with the Bucks last week. Kenny tells the Bucks they need to talk. Matt taunts Don Callis and Kenny tells him not to and leads to an argument right before the Young Bucks make their entrance.

This was a pretty good match, and a highlight early on was Silver tagging in and wanting to face Doc Gallows. Gallows obliges and the size difference is a tremendous difference. Silver is trying to pump up and Gallows is laughing at him. Doc gets down on one knee and Silver hits a series of strikes. Stu Grayson also had a highlight performance as he got a hot tag at one point and was taking out everyone. Reynolds and Silver hit that combination Enzugiri, followed by a Stunner, followed by a German suplex that they have been hitting a lot on Matt Jackson. Then Matt receives the Fatality from Uno and Grayson for a near fall because its broken up by Karl Anderson.

The finish comes when all four member of The Elite team hit super kicks at the same time on Grayson for a near fall, The Good Brothers give Evil Uno the Magic Killer, and The Young Bucks give Grayson the Meltzer Driver for the pin and the victory.

Post match, Matt Jackson gets on the mic and say they are entering the Battle Royal next week, and if they win they will get to choose who they face at Revolution and then they look at the Good Brothers. Then Rey Fenix springboards in out of nowhere and dropkicks The Young Bucks. Moxley runs out and throws The Good Brothers out of the ring, and Fenix takes them out with a Tope Con Giro. Then Kenny Omega runs out and runs right into a Paradigm shift by Moxley. Then Moxley and Fenix close the show standing tall in the ring.

Segment Rating: 6.25/10

All of this was very good. The match, the story throughout the match, and everything after. There’s so many layers going on here and how can you not be intrigued. Is Don Callis playing everyone, including Kenny? Can The Good Brothers truly be trusted, is all of this a plan and the Young Bucks are playing the fans? There’s no way to really know for sure and we just have to let it play out, but I can’t wait to see how that all plays out. This match was great everyone looked good and got a lot of offense in. The Dark Order is over and this loss doesn’t hurt them one bit because of who they lost too, and they proved they can hang with everyone here, very, very good. Everything else is wait and see and I can’t wait.

Remarkable Wrestler of the Week

For this episode of AEW Dynamite, the Remarkable Wrestler of the week is Jungle Boy.

Jungle Boy gets the RWOW this week, because of his stellar performance in that match and the story he told throughout the match of trying to prove he can win on his own. I look forward to his future in the company and this was another example of how good he is.

Overall

This was not a bad episode of Dynamite at all, some of the segments I could have done without but it wasn’t bad at all, overall I give this episode of Dynamite a 5.3 out of 10. Some of the matches tonight were really good, but the promos varies from good to boring and long to not getting a word of it. Still a pretty good show.
