*ALL NEW* #MouthingOff with MikeJC: Dynamite Weekly. Wednesday November 11th #AEWDynamite Ep.58 (@MikeJC821)

Welcome, everyone to the latest edition of #MouthingOff (with MikeJC): Dynamite Weekly, the weekly review feature on AEW Dynamite here on SLTDWrestling.com. I will be giving my thoughts and opinions on all the highlights of the show as well as giving the “Remarkable Wrestler” of the week. So here are the highlights of the Wednesday, November 11th edition of AEW Dynamite.

Matt Sydal vs. Brian Cage

AEW Dynamite opened with Team Taz coming out, and Taz mentions that he see’s Darby Allin in the rafters holding the TNT Champion, then he tells him to send a text to Cody Rhodes, that if he gets involved he’ll get his ass beat. Then he mentions that Cage is about to take on Sydal who is universally respected by everyone and only gives respect, unlike Darby and Cody. It was a fine match, between these two. Sydal since coming in has been doing the job for everyone which is fine, he’s in the good hand role. That’s exactly what he’s here for right now.

As you would expect it was pretty cookie cutter, Cage was in control for most of the match, Sydal showed signs of life being the small guy, but in the end Cage’s power was too much for Sydal. The finish came when Cage caught Sydal in mid air and hit the drill claw, for the victory. Post match, Ricky Starks gets on the mic, and says that no matter who is holding the TNT Championship, Team Taz is coming for it.

Segment Rating: 4.5/10

As I mention this was pretty cookie cutter of a match, felt like a time waster to be completely honest. I don’t know why you’d start the show with a time waster, but I guess not every show can start off with a bang.

Cody Rhodes Speaks

Cody comes out, and congratulates Darby for winning at Full Gear, he mentions that he and Arn Anderson discussed that they are not seeking a rematch at this point. He then states there’s another loss on his record he’d like to vindicate, he’d like a rematch with MJF. Then a woman enters the ring, and takes Cody’s microphone. She asks Cody why he’s lying to the audience about being a giant killer. She says her name is Jade Cargill, and she’s the “total package”. She says there’s nothing “giant” about Cody, and she tells him next time he feels like opening his mouth, he should “keep that shit to himself”, (the truck clearly missed the cue to beep that). She claims “she is nothing to be played with”, whatever that means. She mocks him for getting his last name back, and says the person she’s representing is Shaq.

As she goes to leave Brandi comes out and is obviously mad about this, she tells her to shut up and calls her a “bitch”, as Brandi goes to leave, Jade slaps her on the ass, which angers her and they have to be pulled apart. While this is taking place, Brian Cage and Ricky Starks come back out and attack Cody, and he’s saved by Darby Allin, and Will Hobbs is eventually very late to the party.

Segment Rating: 3/10

This was really bad. I can’t stress enough how forced this felt, and how unnecessary it felt. First thing Jade clearly wasn’t prepared to cut a promo of this magnitude. She felt like she was reading everything she said off a piece of paper, and everything that came out of her mouth sounded dry and uninteresting. Secondly why is Shaquille O’Neal, coming to AEW at all. That isn’t necessary at all, nobody wants that. This is not gonna go well as evident by this segment and I don’t think what AEW is going for is gonna come across at all. I hated this, and couldn’t find anything about it that I liked, that includes the setup for a tag match next week between, Team Taz versus Cody and Darby for next week. Get Darby away from Team Taz, it’s time to move on after one or both of them gets a title shot and hopefully loses. I like team Taz they are both great talents but stop feuding with Darby.

Bunkhouse Match: The Butcher and The Blade vs. Natural Nightmares

This match was very sloppy at the beginning, but seemed to pick up towards the end. This became a personal feud because The Bunny, basically using QT Marshall, and maxing out all his credit cards to get gifts and things like that while we all knew she was already married to The Blade. That’s a hole in the story that wasn’t addressed but I guess I can look passed it. The thing that always hurts these kinds of matches on Dynamite is commercial breaks during matches because it’s very hard to focus on the match in a split screen. There was a bunch of bales of hay around the ringside area, with bull heads, and cowbells and everything like that. This being a very Dusty Rhodes eccentric type match.

Early on there was a spot at ring side with a chair, where Dustin hit the final reckoning onto the chair denting it. As the action continues it builds to another spot where Dustin and the Butcher fight up the ramp, and end up on a elevated platform where Dustin hits a bulldog off of it through some plywood so that incapacitates them for the time being. QT and The Blade are fighting throughout the ringside area and in the ring, both guys are bloody. They set up a giant ladder in the ring and QT climbs it and hits a big diving elbow drop off of it for a two count. Earlier in the match a table was set up at ringside, and The Bunny ends up going through it after QT knocks The Blade into her on the apron, the Dustin hits his finisher for a pinfall victory.

Segment Rating: 5.25/10

I wasn’t very fond of this match at the beginning but it built to a pretty decent looking hardcore style match with a different name. It had a story which helped the build of the match and I actually enjoyed the last third of it. So I didn’t hate it at all, definitely not on the level of the parking lot brawl between Best Friends and Proud and Powerful. We’ll see what’s next for both of these teams, but I assume this feud is now over.

MJF with Wardlow Inner Circle Induction Ceremony

Justin Roberts introduces us to the ceremony and claims this is the 2020 edition which implies there will be more in the future which might’ve been a mistake. Jericho is hosting it and he introduces “The OG I.C” and Hager, Santana and Ortiz. He runs them down, and wonders Sammy Guevara is not here. He then introduces MJF and Wardlow.

MJF tells a story about how his father gave him a “small” one-million dollar loan and despite the odds, he made it all work. He mocks the fans and says his ability to handle pressure made him into the diamond he is today. He says he’s going to recite some poetry that his “homies” Proud and Powerful will appreciate, he then recites Drake lyrics word for word and this aggravates Ortiz, and MJF claims he doesn’t know who Drake is.

MJF then says that he’s not the only reason we are here to celebrate, we’re also celebrating Chris Jericho’s birthday. Then balloons and confetti rain down, and MJF says the Inner Circle is going to Vegas next week on him. That was the end of the segment.

Segment Rating: 3.25/10

This was not good. I’m sorry but I can’t give this a pass because it’s Jericho. I love Jericho, but these segments keep getting worse and worse. MJF didn’t come off good here at all. I don’t know why AEW seems to be unintentionally getting worse and worse segments out of him and I don’t get how that keeps happening. This didn’t work, at all, and later on during an interview with Inner Circle, Sammy Guevara walked up and said the email he received from MJF said to go to “The Beach”, which makes zero sense cause all Guevara would have to do is look at AEW’s social media for where he had to go, so that was lost on literally everyone apparently.

Young Bucks Interview

The Young Bucks do an interview, with Alex Marvez who flinches when they open the door, the Young Bucks put over Top Flight, who have performed well on AEW Dark and they are excited to face them, next week for the tag titles.

Scorpio Sky vs. Shawn Spears

This was a fine match, that really was what it was. Both guys needed a big win, on Dynamite, because they for the most part have only been working on Dark. Both guys had great records coming in and it had some good back and forth action. Winning here could give them the push they need. There was some good back and forth action, and the finish came when Tully gave the slug to Spears, then gets the refs attention and throws another one across the ring which Sky disposes of, and then Spears punches Sky and gets the pin for the win. The referee, is checking Spears glove after the match, after the bell he put the slug in his tights.

Segment Rating: 5/10

As I mentioned, both guys needed a win here and it could have gone either way, I’m surprised they didn’t go with Sky, considering he has a higher ceiling. That’s not to say Spears doesn’t deserve this he certainly does and I could see him getting numerous TNT Championship reigns over time even being the guy to beat Darby.

Moxley and Omega Interviews

Earlier in the night we see a Moxley interview, Moxley mentions that he’s already defeated Omega on a big stage once and he’s ready to do it again. He notes that eventually his luck will run out, but until then, he’s gonna keep doing what he does. Later in the night Dasha was supposed to interview Omega but he isn’t here, Marvez tracks him down, leaving the arena. Omega says now he has to step out of his position of being an afterthought to now being in the spotlight. Omega says Moxley has what he wants, and has taken Omega’s spot as being the face of the company. Omega says he’s heard the backstage chatter of “Where’s The Cleaner?” Omega thinks he’s proven with the recent tournament that he never left, he’s just ready to resume that role in the company. Omega says they are actually 0-0, because when he looks in the record book, there’s no match between them. Their first match was an Unsanctioned Match.

No rating for these because they were short but I think they were pretty good as expected and they announced that the title match will take place on the December 2nd episode of Dynamite, so that’s surely going to be a stacked episode.

Tay Conti vs. Red Velvet

Conti had Anna Jay in here corner even though Conti was invited to the Dark Order over a month ago, but she hasn’t officially joined yet. Red Velvet had Brandi in her corner even though she was pissed about earlier, since she’s still technically feuding with Anna Jay. The match was fine, back and forth action for the most part, I can honestly say Tay Conti looks better then she ever did in NXT. In NXT she was just there, here she feels like she’s improving a lot and actually having good matches.

There was some good looking kicks and knee strikes by both ladies. The finish came when Anna Jay slid a chair in and wanted Conti to use it but, Conti didn’t want to lose it. After a reversal, Conti hit’s a pump kick, and a Gory special into a GTS for the win. Conti looked at Anna Jay weird as she came to celebrate with Conti.

Segment Rating: 4.75/10

I don’t know what this is building to, the Anna Jay/Brandi feud isn’t over yet but Brandi is now distracted by Jade. Conti is unsure about the Dark Order, so that’s clearly leading to something but I don’t know why this is more important then building something for your champion, and where the hell is Britt Baker? She should be on every week, she’s amazing.

Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Rey Fenix

Eddie Kingston came out and said before this match that unlike most of the fans who would quit after losing a title match he’s not going to, and he’s gonna do commentary and watch this match. This match was crazy good. It go personal quickly by the brothers, they were choking each other early, hitting numerous move combinations, but it got real serious towards the end because they were ripping at each others masks, something you don’t do in Lucha culture, the punched each other hard in the exposed parts of the face. Penta hit a sick looking flip reverse DDT, for a two count. The finish came after Penta hit the Fear Factor on the apron, then hit a mexican destroyer from the apron to the floor, then another Fear Factor in the ring for the pin, and the win.

Post match saw, Eddie Kingston enter the ring on the mic, saying that Penta showed Fenix who the boss is and he kicks Fenix out of the ring, and says that Penta doesn’t need that dead weight. As this goes on the music of PAC plays, he’s back and he tells Eddie he’s made a very very big mistake, and as he enters the ring, referees immediately break it up, as they try to brawl with each other and the Lucha Bros. watch on to close the show.

Segment Rating: 6.5/10

This was a great match, however, I didn’t really understand why it was happening. It wasn’t really made clear why this match took place or even why Kingston cared about it at all. It kind of tied itself together when PAC showed up, basically implying that he took the Lucha Bros. from him in his absence and polluted their minds. I like that and I’m excited for this blurred lines feud, because we don’t really know who is heel or face here and I’m fine with that, happy PAC is back, happy to see where this goes.

Remarkable Wrestler of the Week

For this episode of AEW Dynamite, the Remarkable Wrestler of the Week is, Penta El Zero Miedo.

Penta won a war with his brother, and even though I don’t understand why that was taking place, his performance in that match alone was enough to get him the RWOW this week.

Overall

So that’s all the highlights for this episode of AEW Dynamite on November 11th, overall I give this show a 4.6 out of 10. This was a pretty rough show, with some feuds being continued that don’t need to, and some other feuds being concluded with really only one really good match, and some other okay matches, with some really bad in ring promos. They can’t all be homeruns as we know but this was not a great show at all.
