As Fazzas Thoughts reported, Karrion Kross suffered a separated shoulder during his match with Keith Lee at NxT TakeOver. This was heartbreaking to see, especially with how his character has been over the last few months. Coming to the ring with his partner both on-screen and real life, Scarlett, Kross stated he’s a realist and NXT officials won’t let him compete.
Kross proceeded to put the title in the middle of the ring and stated: “On the path there are obstacles, but for me, the obstacles are the path.” Witnessing this was heartbreaking and you could see how devastated he was during the backstage segment on the WWE website. Kross and Scarlett have proceeded to wow the WWE universe, with feuds against Ciampa and then Keith Lee. He has dominated the division and has been one of the shining stars of WWE during the pandemic.
As a result of vacating the title, there was a 60-minute iron man match on NXT. The match consisted of Gargano, Adam Cole, Fin Balor and the returning Ciampa. This match was fantastic but left a sour taste in peoples mouth with the finish. Next week we will see Finn Balor vs Adam Cole with the winner crowned NXT Champion, but where does this leave Kross?
With surgery, it takes around 8 weeks to recover fully from a separated shoulder and 12 without. Kross will be away for 3/4 months down the line from now and we don’t even know where WWE will be at this point. Will fans be allowed back in stadiums? Will they be touring again? All of this is unknown.
What is known is that WWE has an absolute beast of a competitor on their hands. Kross is going to be a force no matter what brand he ends up on. I see him coming back to NxT to challenge whoever has the title at that time. It should be a face with Kross being a heel, however, NXT knows that these dynamics don’t matter when the talent is so good.
So who will be in his sights? Could it be Adam Cole considering the tick-tock started with him? Could it Fin Balor a man who Kross has set his sights on in the past? Could it Gargano a man who Kross has never crossed? Or should it be Ciampa, the man who started Kross’s journey in NXT?
For me, the obvious choice is Ciampa. This feud is long from being over and it could continue for another year or so. They have heat and Kross would possibly be the face, considering Ciampa is now the heel. I know I said above it doesn’t matter, but with Ciampa’s direction and Kross giving up the title willingly, this could be the shift that is needed.
What I’d like to see personally is Kross skipping NXT all together. There is a supposed Draft happening in October and if so, Kross would be fantastic to show up at this point. It is around 6 weeks away and he doesn’t need to wrestle but could come back and take someone out with a chair etc. He could easily be a main eventer on Raw or SmackDown.
Either way, the future is bright for Kross and Scarlett in WWE. From the theatrical entrance to his ability in the ring, he is a future WWE Champion. The question isn’t if but when.
