#MattPredicts (Part Three) – The Money in the Bank Ladder Matches (@maruwe22)

Welcome to this #MoneyInTheBank edition of #MattPredicts where we look at the Raw side of the card (excluding the MITB Ladder match). We’ll look at both sides of the coin and see if we can come up with some conclusion and prediction for who should walk out victorious.

The Women’s Money in the Bank Match

Why Should Ember Moon Win?
Ember winning the briefcase isn’t need at this time. She has got a brilliant future ahead of her. If she won the briefcase, it would certainly catapult her to superstardom. However, the slow burn is needed for Ember Moon. Some NXT talent, when called up, has been pushed really well and then dropped to the side. I really don’t want that to happen with Moon. For this reason, I only want Ember to be in the match to dominate. Winning the match right now for her isn’t needed. Maybe next year will be the right time.

Why Should Charlotte Win?
Charlotte winning the briefcase could be fun. Since she dropped the title to Carmella, I feel she has become more entertaining. She had a great match vs Lynch on SmackDown, which I don’t think we would have seen with her as champion. Her mic work is consistently improving, as does her work in the ring. It’s rare to have a face holding the briefcase, but in this instance, it would work, for sure. Eventually, Charlotte will win back the title, regardless of the show she is on. Her having the briefcase would mean that we know her time is coming once again.

Why Should Alexa Bliss Win?
Bliss needs to win the briefcase. After the WrestleMania match with Jax, she’s got a little lost in the women’s division.  Not that she is a poor wrestler, but once again WWE booking has become questionable as of late. A briefcase holder should normally be a heel, and Bliss fits that role really well. There is nothing quite like a cocky heel cash in after a champion has had a long match.

Why Should Becky Lynch Win?
Lynch is by far my favourite women’s wrestler, so I will remain as objective as possible. Lynch should win this because……

Simple as that. Lynch for me has it all – the look, the feel, the charisma. She was the first SmackDown Women’s Champion and should be again.

Why Should Natalya Win?
Natalya is the veteran of the match and her main role is to put people over. Saying that Natalya could have some fun holding the briefcase. With her being ready to cash in, the champion would have to be on alert. Natalya could pick apart any wrestler on the roster, especially in a post-match beatdown. For me, Natalya could do a lot with the briefcase than without it.

Why Should Lana Win?
Lana Day is coming!! When Lana was put back with Rusev, I was worried for English. Now I’m not worried (as much). For me, Lana is entertaining to watch and has gotten over with the crowd well. If Lana wins, she can spend time holding onto the briefcase, before her eventual cash in. Lana’s biggest weakness can easily be her biggest strength. She has the least ring time out of all the women in the match, but this could be a good thing. No-one is expecting Lana to win. On paper, she must be the rank outsider. Then again, people said the same thing about Carmella last year. Could be a future Mrs Money in the Bank, alongside Mr Money in the Bank? Who knows!

Why Should Naomi Win?
Naomi frustrates me, I’m not going to lie. I can’t get behind her, or her gimmick. Yet she always is the person who I get on WWE Supercard for decent cards. Sorry, I digressed there a little. For me, Naomi is a crowd pleaser, but not believable enough as a champion. Take her finishing move as an example of this – is it believable? No. That alone for me rules her out. But the only reason she should win is if then she changes everything. Why not go real life, put her with The Uso’s and turn heel? Could be interesting to watch.

Why Should Sasha Banks Win?
Sasha is losing her place at the moment. She gets pushed and pulled more than a can of beer which has been thrown by Stone Cold. When she debuted, both in NXT and on the main roster, she had an air of legit around her. This sadly has disappeared. A win for Banks would reinvigorate her spirit and her character. We’ve seen her tease turning on people regularly, who knows – this could spur it on. All I know is Sasha needs to a shakeup, and this could be the start of it.

What Will The End Result Be?
I really, really, really want Lynch to win, but I don’t see that happening. What I do see happening is her going for the briefcase and then being pulled off it by the eventual winner. I don’t see as many big spots, compared to the men’s match. However, it should be better, and cleaner than last year.

Matt Predicts: Alexa Bliss climbs the ladder and becomes the Women’s Money in the Bank holder.

Men’s Money in the Bank Match

Why Should Braun Strowman Win?
Strowman is on a hot streak right now, it’s true. At some point, he will hold the title. However, does he need the Money in the Bank briefcase? I, controversially, say no. If Strowman were to win, it would be like putting an extra rocket on a space shuttle. Not needed but would be helpful. The crowd is behind him and will cheer him on regardless. As a good guy, it doesn’t make sense for a cash in. For Strowman, the thrill of the chase is the most important part of the hunt. And with that in mind, Strowman needs to be chasing Lesnar. Not with the briefcase, but with his bare hands.

Why Should Finn Balor Win?
Balor is getting a little lost on Raw, a similar situation to Sasha Banks amongst others. He needs to find himself again and winning Money in the Bank could be just the ticket. Yes, a face cashing in isn’t good, but against a monster heel, it could be great. Balor has the small, little guy build which helps with this. Similarly, it would let him capture back the title. The title which he never technically was beaten for. Winning the Men’s Money in the Bank match could make it the Summer of Balor.

Why Should The Miz Win?
The Miz is the Men’s division in WWE right now. He is over with the crowd and an amazing heel. Miz can work the crowd and play the crowd with ease. He is the face of WWE for me. However, this doesn’t translate into a win at Money in the Bank. Granted, a win would make him a more heel-ish heel, and he has won it before. His previous cash in made a meme and put him over with the crowd massively. If The Miz were to win, he could have fun with it. However, there are others in the match who need the win more than him.

Why Should Rusev Win?
Every one loves Rusev Day. With Lana in the Women’s Money in the Bank match, we could have the first ever Mr and Mrs Money in the Bank. Will that happen though? Probably not. For me, Rusev needs the briefcase. Putting him up there is what is needed. The crowd love Rusev Day. They cheer him on, and he has a great dynamic with English. Throwing Lana into that as well and it’s golden. It reminds me a lot of the old Ziggler-AJ Lee-Big E trio. Strangely enough, that resulted in another Men’s Money in the Bank winner too.

Why Should Bobby Roode Win?
It would be simply glorious for Roode to take the briefcase on Sunday. I think that he needs the win the most out of anyone in the match. At the moment, he’s getting stale which doesn’t help him. A heel turn with the briefcase would work for me. As I’ve mentioned before, the heel with the briefcase gets the plaudits. Roode is no different in that respect. It would give him a chance to shake up his character a little, whilst keeping the amazing entrance theme.

Why Should Kevin Owens Win?
KO and Balor have a history over the belt and this needs highlighting. Do I think they’ll encounter one another? For sure. Will the history between them be played up? Hell no. KO with the briefcase could be fun. It could even carry the List of Owens in there (I miss clipboards). Like some others in the match, Owens needs a boost to keep him going and Money in the Bank is just that. He could do with that little bit more in his character and storylines. Hell, I could even see him cockily defend it in matches. Or use it as leverage to get him more perks on Raw. Money in the Bank KO would be good fun.

Why Should Samoa Joe Win?
A win for Samoa Joe is a dark horse, but I think it gets darker the more I think of it. Does Joe need it? Could you see him with the belt? For me, I answer both questions with a resounding no. For me, his push-pull currently on TV is hurting him. Yes, we know he has a submission move which is effective. However, you can’t win Money in the Bank with a submission move. This straight away puts him on the back foot. If it were a Money in the Bank match for the IC Title he would have a decent shot. But for the WWE Championship?  I just don’t see it, sorry Joe.

Why Should The New Day Win?
At the time of writing, we don’t know what New Day member will be in this matchup. You can check out my thoughts on each of them by clicking here. Do I think any of them will win the match? Probably not, the only outsider contender would be Big E.

What Will The End Result Be?
One thing that is guaranteed is that the match will be a spot fest. There will be some crazy action. People will fly, people will fall, a ladder will break.

Matt Predicts: Roode gets the briefcase, turning on everyone during the match and is the Men’s Money in the Bank holder.
