Our Big Announcement: SLTD and MFX Podcast Are Joining Forces!

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re proud to announce that, as of today (9th January 2014), SLTD Wrestling and MFX Podcast are joining forces to bring you the best possible coverage of all things professional wrestling.

After a few weeks of negotiation, we agreed a deal this week and today is the dawning of a new era.

You all know about us here at SLTD Wrestling, and what we do, but what about MFX Podcast, and how does this agreement affect the site and listeners of SLTD Radio?

It’s fairly simple. Going forward, the boys from MFX Podcast – our very own Duckman and his partner-in-crime, the incomparable Sir Ian Trumps – will provide you with TWO, yes TWO, weekly podcasts which will review the current state of affairs on Impact and on Raw. Their first show of the week, which you can expect on a Tuesday, will cover TNA, and their second show, usually on a Thursday/Friday, will cover WWE.

So why MFX? Because they’re 2 guys exactly like Greg, Adam and George – hard-working, funny, passionate wrestling fans.

MFX Podcast is not your usual wrestling podcast. If you’re after play-by-play commentary on what happens during Impact and Raw, with a blow-by-blow account of “he said this, she said that”, “he did this, she did that”, then you’re in the wrong place.

They’ll cover the main talking points, adding in their thoughts, ably helped by a whole cast of characters, including Brick Hogan, Jeff Hardy, GameBoy, “An Inconvenient Curt”, Curtis Axel and many, many more. There’s sarcasm and laughs aplenty to be had as Duckman and Sir Ian take a tongue-in-cheek look at the latest from TNA and WWE.

Duckman and Sir Ian have been on the air as MFX Podcast for several years, and have interviews with the likes of Nigel McGuinness, Rockstar Spud and Eddie Kingston under their belts.

They record their podcasts twice a week and thrive on the interaction they get from their listeners. You can send them feedback on their shows by e-mailing mfx.show@gmail.com, tweeting them @MFX Podcast or through their Facebook page. Just search for Marks for XCellence and you’ll be able to find it.

Where does this leave the future of SLTD Radio?

Have no fear folks, we’ll still be around, but the format of our show will be changing. For the foreseeable future, SLTD Radio will no longer be focusing on the current product. There’s not enough out there that any of us – Greg, Adam or George – like at present, so instead, we’re going to be tackling something different altogether.

We’ll be reviewing classic wrestling shows from WWF, WCW, even TNA, as well as some PPVs from years gone by. It also gives us the chance to tackle some topics head on, like “Wrestlers Who Should Have Been World Champion” or “Our Top 5 PPVs of All-Time”, to get some real debate going and for us to remember why we love the business of professional wrestling.

We’ve decided to go down this route because the special episodes that we did last year were our highest rated shows, so we felt it was best to put all of our energy into doing those kinds of shows more regularly, while the boys from MFX cover the week-to-week stuff in WWE and TNA.

This partnership will help us both to grow to where we want to be in 2014. We’ve all spent a lot of time and effort bringing this together for all of you, and we’re sure that this will bring out the best in both parties.

There’s now a dedicated MFX Podcast page on the site – www.sltdwrestling.co.uk/mfx-podcast – where you’ll find the latest episode of MFX and going forward, we’ll give you a run-down of some of the characters you’re likely to hear from on the shows. In the next few days, we’ll also be adding a player to the main page of our site where you can listen to the latest episode of MFX.

Today’s announcement marks (see what we did there!) the first step of a journey that will see SLTD Wrestling transformed over the next few months. We can’t say too much just yet, but we’re determined to bring you even more quality content and a broader coverage of pro-wrestling in 2014.

We’ve come a long way in the last 12 months, and now that MFX Podcast are on board, we’re sure the next 12 will be even better! Stick with us. 2014 has got off to a hell of a start and it’s gonna be quite a ride!
