The Game HHH

One thing I have always wondered about HHH is why do fans think he would not be where he is without his marriage to Steph? Honestly …

The guy has been in the business 16yrs. He worked his way up, made the right connections and all these years later, he is still evolving (no pun intended). He always puts what’s good for business first and is a true ambassador. I am under no illusions that his family ties have maybe made some things easier, but there’s no doubt that they’ve also made some things harder.

My understanding of his current situation is he is keen to learn how to take WWE into new areas of entertainment, the marketing ethic and drive it takes to get there, as well as his huge role as creative advisor. I’m sure he looks at those things with only the best interests of the fans in mind. I am a wrestling fan who always roots for the baby face. There have only been a few great heels I have liked and taken to, but I understand the nature of the beast and that both roles are equally important. HHH was one of the first guys to enter the domain of heel/face hybrid (still trying to come up with a better name). What I mean by this is the guy who can pretty much do whatever makes him chuckle.

Stone Cold Steve Austin gave birth to this kind of character, and there are probably only a handful of superstars who fit into this circle. Trips is up there with the best of them, and the fans just love him for it.

He cut a Wrestlemania promo on Raw recently, fuelling the fire for his match with The Undertaker. I have read in so many places that all he got was heat for what he said, but I don’t know why?

He has outlasted so many of the “attitude era” guys. He is a true challenge for The Undertaker and they both have one hell of wrestling resume. There are so many young superstars coming though that seem to get so much so fast and then have to take a back step when they should be pushed and nurtured. In a few years time the likes of Alberto Del Rio, Wade Barrett, Sheamus and (as much as this kills me to say) The Miz, will be in a somewhat similar league if the fans keep cheering and they continue to adapt and listen to what the fans want and the business needs. No disrespect, but they’re not at that level yet.

They bust their balls to entertain the fans and you have to respect that (and I do), but I really feel there are cases of too much too soon for some break through stars. That never happened back in the day. HHH has stated many times that he was punished for breaking character when the Kliq disbanded. He took his punishment and chose to make it work in his favour, instead of hindering his progress.

Similar to The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and I think most recently Randy Orton, Triple H no longer needs a title around his waist to pull a crowd. He can have grade A matches on the fly and can get over new or struggling talent.

As you can probably tell from this I am a huge fan of The Game, but also of The Man behind The Game! I think his support and friendship with the likes of Ric Flair (who has said more than once that HHH saved his career in his own way), is overlooked from time-to-time. His unquestionable, undeniable brotherly love for Shawn Michaels, and not just on screen, is another example of him being a top man and he always had Shawn’s back!

That’s the reason DX will never and could never die. It’s ties like that when you grow up and watch these two brothers stand tall that make you realise what a good man he is. That’s why I think the fans who think he is where he is because of his wife are wrong, but that’s just my opinion!

Here’s the Wrestlemania promo I referred to earlier.
