The Voice of Reason: The Bumpy Road

The beginning of everyday is usually the same for wrestling fans; it is about the Road to WrestleMania! This year is no different, other than the tone of it. With multiple injuries, failed experiments and pressure to break attendance records, the WWE really do have tough odds to overcome.

Although they are doing the best they can, some questionable storyline choices remain. So let’s run through a couple of puzzling topics on the bumpy road to WrestleMania.

Lesnar & The Wyatt’s

Not long ago, Brock Lesnar became the man to finally break The Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania, and through this, Mania is now his yard. While Brock does have a tasty encounter booked against Dean Ambrose (probably will be the match of the night), it seems strange that he is not facing a various combination of the Wyatt Family, or Bray himself.

The match was teased for a fair amount of time with the possibility of Bray Wyatt against Paul Heyman on the microphone adding to the tale. It seems strange then that this match is now booked for a WWE live event instead of the biggest event of the year. While Lesnar does have his match, Bray however is left with, not much…

The U.S. Title

A lot of work was put into making the United States Title both relevant and meaningful again, with John Cena carrying the belt and creating the open challenge, bringing a lot of attention. Now however, Kalisto seems to be undoing that. It’s not that he is a bad champion, he’s both fun and exciting to watch. The confusion comes from the Lucha Dragons – is Kalisto a singles competitor and champion or is he a part of a tag-team who want to challenge for the tag belts?

WWE need to make a decision on his future as the man does make the belt, and there’s no point undoing what was previously achieved.

Kevin Owens & Big Show

Seriously? This is a thing? This is happening? Big Show and Kevin Owens are really about to enter a feud? Is Big Show even a babyface?

Owens is one of the best workers WWE have right now, and due to the injuries, they are definitely few and far between. A feud with Show gets Owens little to nothing, and could easily take place during another period in the year as a “filler”. But why waste the chance to get Owens against Jericho and or AJ Styles? Let’s hope that if the ultimate time and this is just a 500 pound bump in the road in the shape of the Big Show.

That’s it from me. Til next week.
