#TheWrestlingBrains: Clash Of Champions Predictions (@callumowen98 | @xterblack) #WWEClash

Hello it’s us The Wrestling Brains @callumowen98 and @xterblack, and we’re here to give you our Clash of Champions Predictions for this Sunday’s PPV.

Much like Summerslam we have split the card down the middle and we’re sharing the load. To add a bit of intrigue, for every match which we predict correctly we will receive a point, and throughout the series we’ll tally up the points and at the end of the year crown a predictions winner.

Adam (@xterblack) Predictions

Drew Gulak (C) Vs. Lince Dorado Vs. Humberto Carrillo – Cruiserweight Championship

With the news that 205 Live will soon be absorbed by NXT once the Yellow brand has settled on USA, I can’t see there being such a drastic change now like Gulak losing his championship. It would make much more sense for Gulak to go into NXT as the dominant champion ready to be challenged by a newly expanded plethora of challengers.

I also don’t feel there has been enough invested in the ‘believability’ factors of both Dorado & Carrillo as challengers here. Carrillo has the most momentum on his side but this is just another example of ‘everyone on the roster getting their shot at the Championship’ which 205 seems to enjoy doing. Winner & Still Champion: Drew Gulak

Seth Rollins & Braun Strowman (C) Vs. Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode – Raw Tag Team Championships

Aside from predicting the winners of the match, I do think it’s a solid bet that this one will open the show. It’s definitely a match that is designed to have repercussions later in the night during the Universal Championship match which is why I think the champions are losing here. Despite my less than favourable opinion of yet another thrown together tag team, I think Roode & Ziggler are going to capitalise on Strowman turning on Rollins, costing them the match and the championships. Winners & New Raw Tag Team Champions: Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode

AJ Styles (C) Vs. Cedric Alexander – United States Championship

The most recent addition to the card and possibly the easiest to predict. I just can’t see Alexander defeating AJ and becoming United States Champion on such a whim/last minute rivalry. I feel Cedric has this match due to his performance in the King Of The Ring tournament and that somewhere down the line he will be a great United States Champion but now is not the time. Winner & Still Champion: AJ Styles

Becky Lynch (C) Vs. Sasha Banks – Raw Women’s Championship

There’s a reason why Sasha Banks is back, and that is to win the Women’s Championship again. The team of her and Bayley feel like a breath of fresh air against the stale Charlotte Flair and the momentum losing Becky Lynch. In total fantasy booking mode, I can see Flair & Lynch winning the Women’s Tag Team Championships soon and this feud between the four of them culminating in a winner take all match for all of the championships available for women at Wrestlemania.

For now, I think Sasha’s going to take this one to put Lynch back to being a hungry challenger hunting for a championship which is where she’s really excelled this year. Winner & New Raw Women’s Champion: Sasha Banks

Kofi Kingston (C) Vs. Randy Orton – WWE Championship

Someone once told me that whoever had the ‘last laugh’ on a show leading into a PPV is more than likely going to lose the match. As we saw on Smackdown, Kofi Kingston once again put Randy Orton through a table after hitting him with a boom drop in Madison Square Garden.

I also think that switching the dynamic up a little by making Kofi the challenger desperate to regain his championship will breathe a little more life into this rivalry before its culmination in/at Hell In A Cell. For those two reasons, I think Randy Orton is going to win the WWE Championship at Clash Of Champions after a closing sequence (maybe Kofi getting too emotional and going for a weapon again?) which allows Orton to be validated in his decade long statement that Kofi is ‘stupid’ Winner & New WWE Champion: Randy Orton

Callum (@callumowen98) Predictions

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross (C) Vs Fire and Desire – Women’s Tag Team Championship Match

So after Mandy Rose’s promo on Smackdown, where she called Nikki Cross ugly, which got a fair deal of criticism, I would think it’s likely a sign Cross and Bliss retain. They’ve barely held the tag belts, and if WWE want to make them a credible champions, then have Nikki and Alexa have a long title reign. It’s also a championship match which has pretty little build, and if there was a title change, I doubt too many people will care about it. Winners and still champions – Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross

Roman Reigns Vs Erick Rowan – No DQ match

In the only non title match on the card, The Big Dog Roman Reigns takes on the man that says that he attacked him Erick Rowan. This whole storyline has been pretty convoluted, and I could see it getting even more confusing after Sunday night.

Two weeks ago on Smackdown Rowan revealed himself as the attacker, and would wipe out Reigns and Daniel Bryan. However despite it seeming that Rowan has turned on Bryan I’m expecting it being a big ruse, and due to the NoDq stipulation my guess is Bryan will run down whilst Rowan is in control and it’ll be made to look like he’s going to help Roman but instead he fools us all, and helps Rowan to victory. Winner – Erick Rowan

Revival Vs New Day (C) – Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match

I’ll be brutally honest I’d forgotten this match was taking place until I looked up the whole card on Wikipedia. The Revival have been in cahoots with Randy Orton over the last few weeks, and have been able to take out Woods and Big E.

Personally something drastic needs to happen to both Tag divisions, male and female to make me feel invested in them, and a Revival Vs New Day feud could help towards that. My money is on new champions in The Revival, throughout the night I expect to see a few title changes and with this rivalry being intertwined with the WWE Championship feud, having Revival becoming new champs makes sense. Winner and new champions – Revival

Shinsuke Nakamura (C) W/Sami Zayn Vs The Miz – Intercontinental Championship Match

Shinsuke Nakamura has gained a little bit of prominence again on TV over the last few weeks following his partnership with Sami Zayn, and it seems both will fit well in their current roles. The Miz is only one title win from tying the most Intercontinental Championship reigns which is held by Chris Jericho, now if he’s going to be ‘blacklisted’ by WWE then I could see his record being taken away from him. I could see Miz just picking up the title, despite some shenanigans on the outside from Zayn. Winner and new champion – The Miz

Bayley (C) Vs Charlotte – Smackdown Women’s Championship

Two weeks ago on Raw, Bayley turned heel, reuniting with Sasha Banks in beating down Becky Lynch, then the night after on Smackdown, former tag team champions would repeat that feat by taking out Charlotte. I’ve always been a fan of Bayley from her underdog days in NXT, but she really needed this edge as she’s been treading water as a babyface for quite a while now.

Charlotte could become a 10 time Women’s Champion if she wins on Sunday night, however this PPV is from her home state of North Carolina, and sometimes returning heroes lose in the hometown and I could see that happening again. Bayley needs the win more than Charlotte, as she needs to keep up her momentum as a heel, and an early defeat could hamper any progress. Winner and still champion – Bayley

Seth Rollins (C) Vs Braun Strowman – Universal Championship Match

In what I assume will be the main event of the evening Seth Rollins takes on Braun Strowman with the Universal Title on the line. Both men would have already wrestled on the card, and also could still be Raw Tag Team Champions. Rollins has declared himself as the best wrestler in the world, but also a fighting champion, and accepted Braun’s challenge without much hesitation.

This match will not finish clean, Braun can’t afford to lose fair and square to Seth as it’d ruin his credibility once again, however Seth won’t be a transitional champion, so there’s two routes for this match to end either The Fiend interferes and takes out both men to close the show or this happens. I’m predicting Rollins turns heel, and in a moment of desperation to keep hold of his championship at any cost, he hits Strowman with a steel chair, whilst Strowman does his run the ring around to collide with an opponent, the match would be stopped immediately, and Seth could continue a beatdown with the chair.

Seth has been a good face, and he is one of my favourites, but this PPV needs a shocking ending, and The Fiend interfering seems too obvious, that’s why if the show ends with Seth holding up the Universal Championship in one hand and a Steel Chair in the other, then that’ll create a cliffhanger for the following night’s Raw. Winner – By DQ Braun Strowman, but Seth Rollins remains Universal Champion

That’s all from us for now, we’ll be back together for Hell In A Cell in a few weeks time, but we may pop up on sold predictions before then.
