#TheWrestlingBrains: #Progress – Chapter 95: Still Chasing Predictions (@xterblack)

Welcome back to Part Two of our predictions for Progress’ big weekend of events. I previously shared my thoughts & predictions on the Natural Progression Series and here I look to speculate over what will happen at Progress’ biggest show of the year – Chapter 95: Still Chasing emanating from the iconic Alexandra Palace.

Moustache Mountain Vs. Keith Lee & Matt Riddle

In the first of two matches that seem to be a celebration/throw back to the old guard of Progress, Trent Seven & Tyler Bate return as a team to take on current NXT stars Keith Lee & Matt Riddle. It’s a match that is being sold on the star power and notoriety of the four as there’s been very little in the way of a ‘buildup’ heading into this one. It almost feels organic to call this one a toss up but there’s no doubt whatsoever that the team with the richest history in Progress should and will walk away from this one as the victors. Winners: Moustache Mountain

Pete Dunne Vs. Mystery Opponent
Mystery Opponent Prediction: Jordan Devlin

First of all, Jordan Devlin seems to be the most appropriate fit for this match. He’s not been announced for the Rumble match despite his prominence in recent chapter shows and he’s got a ton of momentum behind to make him come off as a threat to Dunne. It’s going to be a great one if it is Devlin and given his aforementioned momentum & that, if this is a one off for Dunne, the former United Kingdom Champion doesn’t necessarily need a ‘big win’ here – it would be much more beneficial to see Devlin score the pinball and have his hand raised. Winner: Jordan Devlin

30-Person Rumble Match for the Progress Proteus Championship

Entrants Confirmed: Spike Trivet, Chuck Mambo, William Eaver, Travis Banks, TK Cooper, Niwa, Chakara, Paul Robinson, Roy Johnson, Dani Luna, Ilja Dragunov, Connor Mills, Candyfloss (Possibly injured), Lucky Kid, Charli Evans, Eddie Kingston, Chief Deputy Dunne, Los Federales Santos Jr., Sugar Dunkerton & Millie McKenzie (20)

Predictions For Surprise Entrants: Kassius Ohno, The O.J.M.O, Dan Maloney, Mark Andrews, Flash Morgan Webster, Toni Storm, Timothy Thatcher, Rampage, Ligero & Marcel Barthel (10)

This is one I’m looking forward to the most. I love a Rumble match and I’m very interested to see how Progress’ first ever Rumble goes. As for a winner, there’s a few entrants with that would make sense. Spike Trivet, for example, could win and make it so that he only defends against up and coming guys that fit the remit of injustice that Do Not Resuscitate are fighting against. Ilja Dragunov leading the midcard would be a really interesting arc to the shows, Roy Johnson could defend in only Wasteman Challenges and, of course, Chief Deputy Dunne could finally bring the No Fun Championship to Progress!

My pick, however, is for the guy who has been the solid hand, the work rate opponent who usually ends up losing and is in need of something new so he can run with it. He may be the number one entrant but when has that ever stopped anyone?! Winner: Paul Robinson

Progress Tag Team Championships
Aussie Open Vs. Grizzled Young Veterans(C)

In a turn of events that seem to have left a sour taste in many of the fan’s mouths, Zack Gibson & James Drake returned to Progress to face the then Tag Team Champions Aussie Open for the Championships. And they won. Aussie Open’s time with the Tag Team Championships has come at the expense of Progress nostalgia as both of their reigns have come to an end due to returns to the company – Most recently with GYV and initially when Will Ospreay returned reunite the Swords Of Essex with Paul Robinson. Winners: Aussie Open

Progress Women’s Championship
Meiko Satomura Vs. Jordynne Grace (C)

Those that listen to Tuesday Night Jaw will know that Meiko Satomura is a bucket list booking for Jim Smallman and while the future for Satomura in Progress is unclear, I feel this one will simply be another tick in the dominant win column for current champion Jordynne Grace. Similar to the Moustache Mountain tag match, there’s not much in the way of build for this so it would seem strange for Grace to lose the championship if there’s little foresight past this one appearance for Meiko Satomura. Winner: Jordynne Grace

Progress Unified World Championship
David Starr Vs. Walter (C)

As much as my gut instinct is to just predict David Starr and move on, my head keeps reminding me that its Walter he’s up against. Walter. You know, the guy with very little kinks in his armour, the guy who purposely relinquished the Atlas Championship so he could chase (and win) the Progress World Championship. The guy who then went back and unified the Atlas and World Championships after defeating Trent Seven at Super Strong Style. The current United Kingdom Champion.

And yet, I’m refusing to listen to my head. This is David Starr’s time. This is the time for Davey Wrestling to show that he can defeat Walter and become a truly INDEPENDENT champion. Winner: David Starr
