What’s Best for Business/NOC Review

Night of Champions comes to us this Sunday live on the WWE network, with every title on the line the stakes are very high, however will WWE do what’s ‘Best for Business’? For reasons

Seth Rollins vs Sting

Much has been by WWE of the World title reign of Seth Rollins, pushed solidly since winning the championship at Wrestlemania and with convincing displays on TV and PPV Seth certainly is becoming the man to beat in WWE. The ‘Icon’ Sting is the challenger on Sunday and ever since he returned on Monday Night Raw after Summerslam he’s outwitted and irritated the Champion on every occasion. Whatever the result Sunday it will be lose, lose for the company because of the booking of Sting since his debut, if WCW’s ‘Franchise’ loses on Sunday it further dents his reputation. Personally I feel WWE have to stick with Rollins as WWE champion and have him defeat Sting decisively and on his own, that scenario alone makes his inevitable showdown with Triple H all that more personal. Sting unfortunately I think knows his place in wrestling now and I think on Sunday he will do what’s best.

Seth Rollins vs John Cena

Seth Rollins is doing what only a few have done before him and that is performing double duty at Night of Champions by defending his US title against the leader of the ‘Cenation’. If it wasn’t for Cena being ever-present Seth’s US reign has played second fiddle to his WWE title, but there is much value in the title now and on Sunday it get’s the attention it deserves as two of WWE’s best battle it out. John’s dedication to the US title since winning it at Wrestlemania has been awe-inspiring and he deserves to regain it from Rollins and get his reign back on track. I feel the title is below Rollins, except for bragging rights he doesn’t need it and WWE should settle this feud and give the championship back.

Kevin Owens vs Ryback

Due to inconsistent booking Ryback’s IC title reign has been a little mediocre, I was happy to see him crowned as champion but his opponents namely Big Show and the Miz have not been adequate. There is no doubt that Ryback has improved massively as a performer in the last 18 months and therefore the IC title win was warranted. Unfortunately as already stated he never got the challengers he deserved and hence why his title reign has lacked that extra something. To remedy this WWE dispatched the ever dependable Kevin Owens to be Ryback’s next challenger and on TV alone it has paid off. Owens is a threat to anyone on the roster and his menacing promos made this a must see match and a possible show stealer at NOC. I actually think a Kevin Owens win will improve Ryback in the long run and add legitimacy to the Intercontinental title, a loss to Owens doesn’t harm the ‘Big Guy’ one bit and I feel this could develop into quite the rivalry. Maybe a feud ending HIAC match come October?

The Dudley Boyz vs The New Day

The New Day are without a doubt the best act in WWE right now, they make every Raw, Smackdown and PPV worth watching and are the shinning example of talent that was going nowhere to sharing airtime with the owners of WWE. Big E, Kofi and Xavier each bring something a little different to the stable and their rise up the card has been amazing to watch. Their series of matches with Cesaro & Kidd really put them on the map and in doing so once more ignited the mediocre tag team division. After they recently dispatched the Prime Time Players their opponents seemed to be dwindling, welcome back to WWE the Dudley Boyz. The Raw after Summerslam was exciting and a lot happened but one return that was not expected was that of Bubba Ray and Devon. Straight away the Dudleyz set their sights on the New Day and at Night of Champions they get their opportunity to once more hold the Tag Team titles. The residents of Dudleyville have brought exictements and tables back to WWE and the tag team division welcomes them with open arms, however a win on Sunday for them ruins what the New Day have done. The New Day need to retain on Sunday just for bragging rights alone and to add another feather to their cap. The Dudleyz can take the hit.

The Wyatt Family vs Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and ???

This has instant classic written all over it, if they can equal or surpass the original Wyatt/Shield match at Elimination Chamber 2014 then they’ve done their job. Bray, Luke and now Braun Strowman have looked dominant over the last few weeks, they have beaten down a number of the roster just in case they were thinking of being the mystery partner to Roman & Dean. It’s this mystery partner issue that has discussed most over the last month on social media and WWE TV, in early September there were rumours that Baron Corbin of NXT fame would be the man. Personally Baron is ill-equipped for the main roster, his skill set and promo talents are still to be desired. I would much prefer Finn Balor, Samoa Joe or Daniel Bryan who has legitimate beef with the Waytt’s to team with Reigns and Ambrose. Whoever it turns out to be this is match the Waytt’s need to win to give this feud further fuel for the fire as it’s certainly not over just yet.

Dolph Ziggler vs Rusev

This feud lost it’s way at Sumerslam and now that Lana is injured the conflict has further fallen into mediocrity. You look at Ziggler and wonder why he bothered singing a new contract, is this really what he wanted he re-signed with the company? For Rusev it’s been a good boost since the Cena demolition and it’s given him more scope to explore character development and move set. This match overall does nothing for either competitor. However a win for Rusev is required to keep his aura alive.

Nikki Bella vs Charlotte

The Divas revolution has been mishandled by WWE and it shows, why Charlotte is getting the opportunity above Sasha Banks is beyond me. Charlotte is one-dimensional but what the hell her dad is Ric Flair. Sasha would have been an ideal candidate to take the title of Nikki and establish herself on the main roster and much like she did in NXT bring some legitimacy to women’s wrestling in WWE. One good outcome on Sunday is that hopefully Night of Champions brings an end to Nikki’s lacklustre title reign which has gone on for the this long to try to erase the memory of Aj Lee’s infamous tenure with the belt. It won’t be long before the WWE world title is held for 435 days. No matter my lack of interest in the match change is required and within Charlotte WWE should do what’s right and make that change.
