WWMD – A Women’s Only Pay Per View

So in the era of the WWE Network and Pay Per Views being “easier” to shoot, why not have a women’s only Pay Per View? We now have the roster (on both Raw and SmackDown), the talent in place to put on matches and the interest of the fans. Women’s wrestling has seen a huge surge in increase recently and WWE needs to capitalise on it. In this WWMD, we’ll look at how the PPV could be put together.

Queen of the Ring

The theme of the event needs to fit the prestige of it and what better way than crowning royalty. On the night I’d see three matches take place to determine the Queen of the Ring :

1. Bayley vs Nia Jax
2. Carmella vs Nikki vs Mickie James

The reason for these two matches are simple. Nia and Carmella are both talented and are both showing their worth in the ring. Giving them Pay Per View time will help them a lot. Also, an outsider would look at these matches would straight away predict the final to be Bayley vs Nikki. Mickie James can be used as well to put over Carmella with no harm to anyone. However, the way I’d book it, the final would be Nia Jax vs Carmella, with Nia Jax getting the win and the crown. The main reason for this will become clear later on in the event.

Charlotte vs Natalya, Submissions Only match

If you think of female submission specialists, you’d think of these two straight away. I’ve found that in the past some submission only matches can be boring, but these two could put on a show. They aren’t afraid of breaking any boundaries with wrestling and I could imagine them doing some amazing work, both in and around the ring. If this were a normal PPV you could even add Ric Flair and Tyson Kidd to the scenario too, but that could take away from the spotlight.

Sasha Banks vs Alexa Bliss, Tables match

Putting these two together was a simple decision to make and making a gimmick match out of it was even easier. Both these wrestlers are wanting to push the limits of women’s wrestling and take it to the next level. We’ve seen some amazing work from these two separately on Raw and SmackDown, so why not have them go at each other? Add in tables to the picture as well and we could easily have a fun filled match with a fantastic finish.

Fatal Fourway Elimination Match : Alicia Fox vs Emma vs Dana Brooke vs Becky Lynch

The build up for this match would be easy – 3 Raw wrestlers vs 1 SmackDown wrestler. Logically, you’d expect them to team up on Lynch to eliminate her first, but petty in fighting results in the their team cracking up. The purpose of this match is put over Becky Lynch as a wrestler who can take on all comers, whether there is only one or three.

 The Crowning of a Queen

So, with Nia winning and getting the crown, we need to see her coronation. For this I’d quite happily see the entire of Raw and SmackDown’s women’s divisions in the ring and for a large fight to begin. Give each wrestler the spotlight by having them hit their finishers on each other until the dust settles and only one woman is standing tall – Nia Jax. And to give it that extra gloss? Have her holding the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships in the air as the show finishes.
