#SLTDRumbleWeek: Superstar Stock: #RoyalRumble (2018-2019) (@Tybo_SLTD)

Tis is a brand new monthly article exclusive to SLTD Wrestling, from the mind of @Tybo_SLTD.

We are going to looking at the ‘stock’ level of each WWE superstar on the card from one year’s PPV to the next. We are going to start by looking at the different positions on the card from Royal Rumble 2018 to Royal Rumble 2019. If nothing else it will show the rise and fall of each wrestler over the last 365 days (or there about)

I will show the match card from Royal Rumble 2018 and see if the ‘Superstar Stock’ is up or down, lets go!

Bobby Roode (c) defeated Mojo Rawley – WWE United States Championship (Open Challenge)

Bobby Roode (Rise) – Although Roode is no longer the US Champion, he is a Raw Tag Champion. Although he hasn’t made a significant jump up the card, he will likely be on the main card.

Mojo Rawley (Fall) – We have not seen anything significant from Rawley of late, I honestly can’t remember the last time he was on Raw. Mojo is currently many steps away from any championship opportunity.

AJ Styles (c) defeated Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn – WWE Championship

AJ Styles (Neutral) – Although Styles has recently lost the WWE Championship, he is still in the same position he was in 2018, if not higher purely for keeping the title the whole year. AJ remains in Smackdown’ s top spot challenging for his newly lost championship.

Kevin Owens (Injured) Sami Zayn (Injured)

The Usos (Jey and Jimmy Uso) (c) defeated Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin 2–0 – WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship

The Usos (Fall) – The Usos are still set in a dominant enough role on Smackdown but as they are not champions, or in chasing the titles they have clearly dropped in the last 12 months. That being said they have not dropped off the radar enough that a championship opportunity would be out of place.

Chad Gable – (Rise) Gable seems to have traded one tag partner for another, and chasing blue straps of owning red ones. As Gable is one half of the tag champions, it would be foolish to say his stock has not been on the rise over the last 365 days.

Shelton Benjamin (Fall) – With Benjamin not really involved in any sort of feud, its hard to see his stock moving up any time soon. I hope im wrong, as Benjamin is a great talent who deserves more.

Shinsuke Nakamura won by last eliminating Roman Reigns – 30-man Royal Rumble

Shinsuke Nakamura (Fall) – It’s amazing just how much Nakamura’s stock has fallen in the last 12 months. From going to headlining Wrestlemania for the WWE Championship but never getting the big win, to winning the US Championship but never being on Smackdown. I think it will be hard for Nakamura to get back to the top when he should be.

Cesaro and Sheamus defeated Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan (c) – WWE Raw Tag Team Championship

Cesaro and Sheamus (Neutral) – Just like Gable, The Bar seem to have traded in their red straps for blue ones. The Bar have been a dominant team over the last year on both Raw and Smackdown. Although I have said they are neutral from last year, I would say they are probably on the up as they are currently defending champions.

Seth Rollins (Rise) – You may disagree, as Rollins is currently without a championship, but ‘Monday Night Rollins’ isn’t just a good tagline, Rollins has been the standard bearer for Raw most of the year. Don’t be shocked if Rollins ends Royal Rumble 2019 pointing at a huge Wrestlemania sign.

Jason Jordan (Injured)

Brock Lesnar (c) (with Paul Heyman) defeated Kane and Braun Strowman – WWE Universal Championship

Brock Lesnar (Neutral) – Honestly, nothing has really changed for Lesnar over the last year, he may have lost the Universal Championship, but rightly or wrongly he is back with the title, but still not showing his face any more. Let’s hope 2019 brings a full time Universal Champion.

Brawn Strowman (Neutral) – Up until last week Strowman was in the same position as he was last year, still chasing Lesnar for the Universal championship. Although he is out of the title match at Royal Rumble, he is still in the championship picture.

Kane (Inactive)

Asuka won by last eliminating Nikki Bella – 30-woman Royal Rumble

Asuka (Rise) – If this was only a few weeks ago I would of said Asuka’s stock was way down compared to 12 months ago. Since then Asuka has not only competed in the first women’s TLC match, but she won it and is the Smackdown women’s champion. It took some time, but hopefully is a lengthy reign.

Superstar’s Stock will always go up and down, but its interesting to see the change in 12 months. Superstar Stock will be back at Fastlane, but who’s stock do you think will go up or down after the Road to Wrestlemania begins.
