Hello there, and welcome back to The Fox Files. Today we will be going in-depth about the ten best picks that came out of the most recent WWE Draft last Tuesday night.
10. SHELTON BENJAMIN – Now, we didn’t learn that he was going to return to SmackDown Live until this past Tuesday, but I’m including this pick because hyping up returns gets the ratings in for SmackDown, and Benjamin is a well-known former WWE superstar who is very talented, as he is a former United States Champion! This was a smart move by Shane McMahon and Mick Foley to bring in former WWE Superstars, as they did with Rhyno (even though he’s been in NXT).
9. AMERICAN ALPHA – They are a very well known tag-team nowadays, and are you surprised, with the things they can do in that ring? They gel so well together as a team, and I’m certain that Jason Jordan and Chad Gable will become future WWE Tag-Team Champions.
8. BROCK LESNAR – This is a controversial one and I know that some of you may think he shouldn’t be on the list, and others may think he should be in the top five, but I have put Brock Lesnar here because if you hear that Brock Lesnar is fighting at an arena, you immediately want to buy tickets to see The Beast. He brings in the views and he brings in the ratings. It’s as simple as that.
7. RUSEV – Not only is he the current United States Champion, but even though the fans boo him, we all know he is an entertainer and some of the things he does and says couldn’t be done by anyone else but Rusev! Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley picking Rusev was also a very smart move because it means that they are keeping the United States Championship exclusive to RAW.
6. NIA JAX – She was another NXT call-up, and I am a huge fan of hers. Even though it looks like they are putting Nia Jax in Squash Matches on RAW, I can see her dominating through the women’s division and becoming a future WWE Women’s Champion.
5. THE NEW DAY – Many, including myself were shocked to see that The New Day is still a thing after the draft, as we all thought they would be separated. I definitely love this move though because not only are The New Day hilarious and entertaining (you know they are), but they sold the most merchandise through WrestleMania weekend which is a huge achievement, and to steal a quote, they are simply “best for business”.
4. DEAN AMBROSE – He is not only the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but he simply brings in ratings for SmackDown Live! Whether that’s a live event or an actual TV taping, Dean Ambrose is on the show and the ratings shoot. It was a very smart move by Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan to draft the current champion to their brand.
3. FINN BÁLOR – he was the first NXT pick that was made from Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley, and even though we all knew it was almost certain to happen, it was awesome to get the confirmation for Bálor to finally come up to the main roster. That Coup De Grâce of his is a once-in-a-lifetime manoeuvre and Finn Bálor can do many other amazing moves in that ring. He steals the show whenever he’s in the ring!
2. AJ STYLES – even though he only debuted in the company back in January during the Royal Rumble, and even though it was rumoured to happen, we all marked the f*** out because we know the skills and the moves he pulls off inside the ring are absolutely phenomenal (no pun intended.) Luckily, a certain someone else got drafted to SmackDown Live alongside him, which means AJ Styles can… #BeatUpJohnCena! I have to say that Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan made the correct decision to make AJ Styles be on SmackDown Live.
1. The #1 draft pick is also the draft pick that made the most sense – he is SETH ROLLINS. Seth Rollins definitely would’ve been my #1 draft pick too, and Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley definitely made the right choice. Even though they think that Rollins is a heel and hated on by the fans, we all know that isn’t the truth and that he is one of the best in that ring today with his fantastic athleticism and the moves he can pull off that I could never dream of. He is a fantastic wrestler and definitely deserves to be the #1 draft pick.
